Julius Jones vs Tony Romo

Absolutely JJ lost a lot of his vision and shakiness. He DOES tuck the ball and take it right up the gut where he used to juke and jive and pull some fancy crap. That is absolutely a result of the coaching he has received in this league.

If people don't notice that, they haven't been paying attention. The RB position is my favorite in football and I've watched the Cowboys RBs like a hawk since Smith came into town.

JJ of 2004 was a much more elusive back than the JJ of 2005 and 2006. Absolutely.

What else could it be but coaching? I clearly remember Parcells harping on JJ after the 2004 season and reading about Parcells correcting JJ during training camp reports and practices. Parcells says it himself that he prefers a back that sticks out the tough, guarenteed yards instead of running parallel. He has said it himself that he has a "one cut" philosophy when it comes to running the ball.

Take a look at some of JJ's highlight videos from 2004 and compare it to either year since - He is not the same back.

Two things could have caused that: his shoulder and ankle injuries, or coaching. Judging by the fact that he now seeks contact where once he avoided it, I'd say it is coaching.

That says it all right there. This post, completely pointless.

You could put a HIGHLIGHT video of him THIS SEASON and it would look just as good as his 2004 video. His problem is consistency. He doesn't consistently find the hole, and he doesn't consistently burst through the hole when he does find it.

But yeah, let's just watch a highlight video of 2004 and disregard the plays NOT on the highlight reel.

Oh, but this guys been watching Dallas RBs since Emmitt Smith! He must be a freakin' expert! So he's seen... Smith... Hambrick... JuJo... wow, what a list.

Seriously, someone needs to invent a program that allows me to reach into my monitor so I can backhand people when I feel it is needed.

And if we are as close as so many of you think we are...then why the heck is Parcells waffling about coming back?

Uhhh, because he's gettin' old, and being a head coach is a LOT of work??

To turn your question around on you, if we're NOT as close as some of us think we are, why would Parcells even WANT to come back?? If he thinks like you think, that the Boys are goin' nowhere fast, then another year would just be that much more frustration and exhaustion for him...

Parcells has got the organization back to respectabilty, but I truly believe he has take us as far as he can.

Maybe if you had stated your argument like this at the outset, we could have had a reasonable debate on this subject... you might even have a point here, though I don't think deep down that he can't get them over the hump...

Yeah, because I've never played football or seen other teams play.

Yup. My experience is completely limited to watching Cowboys highlight videos.

You can sit down now.

it's funny, since all former Parcells' players, and current ones, always bring up Parcells pushing them as being commendable, and one of his strongest coaching traits,

Oh, I HATED it when my coaches were giving me grief, ridiculing me... but that got me into an "I'll show that SOB" mindset, got me intensely focused on what I was working on, and that in turn almost always led to positive results...

I had a basketball coach in high school who actually hauled off and slapped me upside the back of my head when he was pissed at me-- not enough to hurt me, but it sure did startle me... I suspect it surprised him too, he said something like "now you can go home and tell your Mom I hit you"... to which I responded "naw, I don't think she'd got time enough to bake you some cookies tonight"...

Let's just say it wasn't the response he expected... but it did save me from running bleachers that day... :D

My point is that there are worse things for an athlete than havin' a hardcase for a coach... sometimes those hardcases can instill the discipline in you that you wouldn't be able to find without a nudge in the right direction...

Personally, I think one full-time job is more than enough... but hey, if you have a lot of extra time... LOL...

and sometimes those hardcases will make you feel glad that you're playing on Sundays, on the field as far away from him as possible ala Phil Simms

Yeah, sometimes it hurts to read another opinion.

Sometimes... yes, it does. It really does.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

A chick's quote from a crappy movie. Nice.

At least now we know where you get your material. :laugh2:

I just don't think JJ's running right now could be chalked up to basic inconsistency. He just runs like a ****** right now, most of the time. Coaching is the only way I can explain why he tries to run that ball up the gut every play instead of doing something with it like he used too.
