Just fire Eberflus

Stated in another thread that I want Harris as DC next year, but I’m also open to letting Schotty pick the next DC.

This was a terrible, typical Jerry hire. Someone he knew and was already familiar with.

Just a terrible hire. Jerry has followed up Quinn with two absolute stinkers in Zimmer (who took the defense from 5th to 31st overnight), and Eberflus who's defense has a 3 Star Michelin Chef rating for 40 burgers.

There's a chance, a slim chance they we can get DQ after this season.

And has he been using his players to their strengths? No. Cause hes about his system not adapting. Where was the 5man fronts this game? No where to be found. This was an eberflus special.

If you use 5 man fronts with Gibbs the short pass game could kill you. Now could they use it more? Sure

Why? Did Schottenheimer pick his ST coordinator because STs is as bad as I've ever seen it. So that pick doesn't inspire confidence.

I’m fine with him back for one more year with better lb and secondary play. You can’t keep changing d coordinators every single year and then be shocked we never have cohesion or continuity.

The defense has improved post trades. Again, don’t think he’s great but do think he deserves one more season and an offseason to come back.

And you quote Bobby belt as a justification or reason as why he should go lol….there are very few coordinators who would have had any success with this secondary and this lineback core that we had before we made trades.

If we had seen no improvement with better talent that would be one thing but we have.

Belt is citing actual stats, not an opinion. When we blitzed tonight we got to Goff. When Eberflus sat back with his basic 4 man rush, we did not. So naturally, he ran that conservative style on the vast majority of his dropbacks.

That's bad coaching. That's a stubborn DC. That's a DC unwilling to make adjustments.

He's a mediocre. I absolutely believe there are DCs out there that would get way more out of this defense than Eberflus does. I mean another DC would likely understand his secondary is a better man defending secondary than zone. But nah, Matty Boy is gonna shove zone down their throats because he's smarter than everyone else.

Crap stat of the night....Eberflus played zone 85% tonight. There is your answer why we got beat....How in the hell can Eberflus justify this after all the success we had vs KC/Philly playing man?

That was a quintessential Eberflus game. Lots of soft zones, puckered up when he needed to be aggressive and make a play. Bobby Belt tweeted that on Goff's first 6 drop backs we pressured him 4 times with 3 blitzes. On his last 29 drop backs, we blitzed only 5 times, pressured him 4 times.

Eberflus plays a passive, reactive style of defense. Pair that with a defense with clear talent issues at certain positions, specifically LB, and you get what you get out there.

The defense should be gutted this offseason and that should start with the DC.

This team got out coached in Offense, Defense and Special Teams! The Lion’s backs were up against the wall and they came out and did a d&&k dance on the Boys. Once again this team reminded me why nothing is going to change until a real GM is hired. Can’t expect to beat teams on the road when you have a bunch of players who can’t show up in the big road games. Pickens looked lazy tonight , and let’s don’t forget about our outstanding LBer group……LOL! Was Overshown in the game tonight, I watch the game up iuntil Ferguson’s fumble and flipped over to FX which was showing The Proposal. I couldn’t force myself to watch another second of this s&&t show tonight!

His lack of any real football acumen shines here. A quality GM looking for a DC understands the talent he has and unless he's getting some upper level, top notch DC, you gotta try to fit the DC with what you have.

He has a roster of better man CBs so he goes out and gets a guy that has played more zone than just about any other DC/HC over the last 5-6 years. Why? Because he once coached here and Jerry thinks he's a swell guy.

Your basis is Bobby belt which what I’m saying lol. 2 things can also be true btw ; Eberflus had a bad game tonight but the team has made improvements and improved during the course of the season. Which if it continues he should come back.

Secondly, every facet of this team sucked tonight ; o line got man handled, Pickens was bad, special teams sucked. The defense sucked. You’re isolating one part of a team wide failure to execute.

Every facet of this team blew it tonight besides Aubrey and including Eberflus. You just don’t like him so it all is blamed on him.

Thats exactly what I think as well. Hes more about his scheme than he is about adapting it to his players strengths. You cant win with coaches like that.

Jerry sucks I’ve said it countless times. And I bashed both the Schottenheimer hire and Eberflus hire this offseason.
