Just think, if MM would have played the 1st team in the preseason

Zack Martin recently said the season starts at Thanksgiving. The eye test tells me he's right.

If MM would had implemented his 1st team players in this new TCO in the preseason, perhaps DAL wouldn't have dropped three regular season games thus far. Growing pains equal losses.

I'm glad they are finally jelling and hopefully peaking, but this could have started sooner.

Hopefully, this doesn't cost us the NFCE
The Cowboys gave up 14 touchdowns in their three losses, almost 33 points per game.

They wouldn't have won the Niners game giving up 42 points.

Or they would have had some serious injuries that would have ruined the season.
That's the argument for not playing them, but you would think it would take more time to implement a new offense

MM also said the defense was ahead of the offense coming out of camp.

Those that paid attention to all the subtle things said by coaches and players was that the offense was going to be a work in progress and things would be better later on in the season than early.

And it's clear that is what is happening right now. The Cowboys are now the highest scoring team in football. Miami is just a couple points behind but remember they had a 70 point game to balloon their total.

They may peak at the perfect time. If they win out, they will be the number 1 and the favorite to win it all.

Let's see, they won their first game 40-0, the starting offense got 48 reps and the defense got 65 reps in that game.
They won their second game 30-10, the starting offense got 80(!) reps and the defense got 46 reps in that game.

How many reps do you think the starters would have had in preseason? 20? 30? What difference do you think that would have made vs. the 128 they got in those first two games?

If you're going to discount Miami for the 70-point game, you have to remember that Dallas has seven non-offensive TDs, Miami has two.

Dallas is 3rd in offensive scoring behind Miami and SF and one point ahead of Baltimore. If the Eagles score 33 this week, they will also pass Dallas. Dallas has also had one of the easier schedules so far compared to the other top-scoring teams. It's a top-ten offense, maybe top five, but not number one.

The fact the Cowboys have seven non-offensive touchdowns could also stand proof that they are more complete than those other teams as well. We also don't know how many touchdowns the Dallas offense would have turned those extra possessions off turnovers into had the defense/special teams not scored themselves.

That's why per drive stats are nice. Dallas is 3rd in points per drive behind SF and MIA, with the Eagles in shouting distance. Their drives start on average in a similar location to the Dophins: the 49ers have better average starting field position but they also average more yards per drive.
