For everyone griping about "cockiness" of the quote, folks would be equally mad at a non-answer or praising the other team.

Anything short of "I suck" just doesn't cut it.

this place is unbearable after a loss. more posters who enjoy bashing the team in any manner than enjoying success. the topics are absurd at times. i wish we could be more even-keeled instead of feeding into the shock jock syndrome like SAS or Skip.

I would have no issues with players talking more like coaches. Yeah people get bent out of shape every time Dak gives a non answer, but arrogance proceeds the fall. Be humble in front of the media and be a monster on the field.

I think its a combination of Stockholm syndrome here and the fact we haven't been relevant in 27 years as far as SB appearances. SO what we have is 0 happy medium. We have basically a bipolar situation with fans. One end of the spectrum or the other. That will greatly improve if we win a SB. Its the Jerry and Stevie Jones effect.

Yeah players are required to talk to the media, but the players are not required to show off their egos to the public and most teams understand how to handle these situations. Did Belichick talk up his own team when asked about the Cowboys? Nope he went on to sign their praises, meanwhile the Cowboys continue to talk up themselves. I would love it these guys had total confidence inside the locker room and spoke that way, but to the media you give the borning answers...."NE has a great duo of backs and we have to step up our game in order to stop them" is along the lines of what needs to be said.

Same. I don't understand the thought process that the Cowboys get their teeth kicked in so now they should go smack talk the next opponent. I'm 100% fine with the humble 'we need to play better' line. I'm sure it's completely different behind closed doors and that's how it should be.

OK fine....what Patriots player has made a headline talking smack about the Cowboys this week? Maybe it's out there and I just haven't read it yet, but the only thing I have to compare is a Belichick quote.

Y'all do know the players are REQUIRED to speak to the media. This quote is obviously from that interview.

He didn't tweet anything. He didn't post anything on social media.

He was asked a question and that was his response...which I'm not sure what he was supposed to say that would've satisfied anyone on here.

I think that's something that a lot of fans do not realize.

Sure, some players have their own podcasts or post on social media, but when the media is writing about or tweeting player quotes, it's usually because of mandatory media time and reporters asking specific questions that required those types of answers.

I am sure a lot of players would love to not have to talk to the media, especially coming off a loss, but that is part of the job.

No problem with what he said. His points reflected some internal (including self) mistakes and issues that will be corrected. I expect this defense to stay confident and tenacious and if they come out strong again, then all’s good. If they stink, then they aren’t a good defense. There’s probably not a question he can answer with any truth, that some in this zone won’t blast for whatever reasons.
