The education system has become a complete and utter joke, they're not teaching your children useful information. They're teaching your kid to be tolerant and not offend anybody because feelings are more important than facts.
As long as tests are based on the almost useless information children are forced to memorize while in school it'll never be a proper way to gauge someone's intelligence. They're wasting 13 years of our children's lives not to teach them, but to indoctrinate them.

On topic I am excited to see what Moore can do.

Romo scored a 37, just saying maybe there was a reason he was always wearing the cap backwards,, just trying to disguise that extended cranium.

The whole point of general intelligence is that it is in fact general. Almost any general intelligence test, including the wonderlic, correlates well with IQ tests.

Generally speaking this may be true, but in reality I don’t think it is a standard you can pin on everyone. People with autism, for example, can be wonderkids with numbers or an instrument or other things, but would have no chance to score high on a general IQ test. In addition, we all know people who have a high degree of general intelligence that don’t have the common sense of a brick.

Payton Manning’s wonderlic was just barely above Moore’s and he is arguably the QB with the highest football IQ to ever play. Eli’s wonderlic was 11 points higher than Payton’s, but does anyone really think Eli understands the game better than Payton?

A lot of “football intelligence” or what is considered a great mind in any particular field, is based not only on general intelligence, but also on instincts, and also on intense study and ability to put what is learned into practice. After all, no matter how high the degree of general intelligence, a person will not have a high degree of intelligence in a particular field if he has not studied that field in depth and learned to make practical use of that knowledge.

I'm guessing you're not a teacher.

Yes but what was his SAT score? That is what is important to Jerry.

Ha ha. Just looked up the Wonderlic of our new and improved boy genius Kellen Moore - 26.

This team is such a clown show. The *only* qualification they've ever pointed to with Moore is his supposed genius, yet that appears to be a complete fraud, and one publicly verified as a fraud.

Some reporter has got to ask Jerry:
You and your staff have been raving about Kellen Moore's intelligence.
Yet his wonderlic was 26, only slightly above average versus the general population, and lower than Travis and Zeke.
Do you see Moore as smarter than they are? If so, why?
if wonderlic is your measure of success. you are climbing up the wrong tree.

Maybe Moore is the Autistic Football Savant. But that's not the way to bet.

Most likely he's just a guy who started very young with his coach dad, so that by the time he hits college, he's waaay ahead of other college QBs in terms of familiarity with concepts and terminology. He works hard in film study too. He gets the rep as "the smart guy", when it's mainly "the experienced guy". The personally tutored by a football coach for his youth.

But just as it takes time to learn football, and lack of experience can limit what you do, lack of general intelligence imposes limits too.

Chess is totally artificial. The more time you spend, the more you automatically recognize patterns. You get better. But as you head toward the top ranks, the IQ level goes up. And up. And up.

Football is a game too. And the coordinators are the guys playing the whole board against each other.

It's funny the resistance this has gotten. Intelligence is an asset in playing games. Moore doesn't have a lot of that asset. This is not good news, particularly since he has so little in the way of other established assets, like actual NFL experience.

It is Football IQ chachi...... he is a offensive savant

Why can't you deniers believe all the players and coaches telling you the same thing

Your Wonderlic score must be a straight number

The guy grew up in football. They are talking about his football knowledge. There are people with low IQ's who are brilliant artist, builders, etc. What was Sean McVey's wonderlic? I'm not crazy about putting an inexperienced play caller into the OC but this thread is just silly.

He overthought every question.

Where does a bear poo?
Uhh... many live in national parks... what kind of bears are we specifically talking about?
Any bear?
Huh...

A lot of bears live in the zoo also...

They eat salmon!

Bears poo in rivers.
Final answer.

No one asked you to bet. He is the OC and we have to wait to see how he does in the job. That's how it works, not fans dreaming up things they consider "qualifications" after the people making the actual decision have picked the guy for the job.

He may not be book smart, but you can tell just by looking at him that he's street smart.

This is nonsense because it suggests people are talking about Moore in a way they are not. The context in which people talk about Moore’s mind and intelligence is “Football IQ”, not formal IQ tests. Nobody is saying he could be a brilliant physicist or as capable of creating the theory of relativity as Einstein was, they are saying he has a great “football mind” and a great understanding of the “game of football”.

The one fair and legitimate concern with Moore is his lack of experience. Your argument is neither fair or legitimate.

if wonderlic is your measure of success. you are climbing up the wrong tree.

It’s not a “measure of success”.

However, when you hear everyone calling the dude a genius and the fans aren’t in “the room”, it’s understandable people are searching for proof.

There are plenty of talented football minds that have had to go coach high school, college, arena, quality control, positions, assistant coaching position, etc. before being handed the keys to an NFL offense.

I think we all just want to know what level of genius it takes to skip all those things, play in the league a few years, coach QB for a single season and suddenly be given the keys.

I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

If you worked a job and some dude went from intern to VP in two years, you’d want to know how that happened beyond the CEO just telling you he’s a genius over and over.

Here is a practice Wonderlic question for you:

14. The time to comment on how smart someone is at their job is:

(A) Before they have done their job
(B) After they have done their job
(C) While they are doing their job
(D) Both B & C

Score at home and let us know the results.
(E) When you feel like saying something negative, just because.

Wonderlic does correlate to IQ.

If you’d told me a coach scored an 8 on the Wonderlic I’d be very worried about his ability to game plan, but not this.
