I thought this guy would play a lot more and take over Brown's spot, but damn I was wrong. He's been a major disappointment , he's played only 6 snaps on defense. I know it's early, but damn, this guy is earning that bust label real quick.
we are going have to draft anothe corner in the third or fourth next year to replace joseph. i do not think he makes the team next year. it would be nice if bland turns into good young future starter.

Jordan Lewis limited in practice and listed as questionable, so he is still around.

That's fine. Never said he was a wise choice. What I'm saying is he's shown on the field that he's capable when called upon. It isn't his fault that Diggs developed into an all-pro corner overnight and Brown cemented himself as a very good #2. Who do you bench to put him on the field?

I’m just saying what I said. It’s not a good thing when you have to wait until year three for a second round pick to start.

But I agree with you that Joseph has played well when he’s actually gotten on the field. Special teams included.

Perhaps not, but we can't call him a bust simply because exceptional players are on the field ahead of him. He will have his time, and if he fills Browns spot we'll next year, the defense will be in great shape.

Eh I don’t see it. You’ve got 5 guys already who will be on the team next year. Maybe they take a late flier but anyone else they add will be inactive all season.

Jourdan Lewis is in a contract year next so it’s not out if the question
I'll roll wit that

Complete waste of a second round pick so far.
How so?

They won both games that he started.

In his 1st ever NFL start, he gave up a total of minus 2 yards receiving.

In 2022, when Diggs got dinging any he filled in for 5 snaps, he allowed a 39.6 QB rating.

Once he was active in 2021 after missing games early in the season due to an injury, he immediately became a top 3 Special Teams player.
- He is again a top 3 ST player in 2022.

Anthony Brown is a free agent after this season.

Jourdan Lewis is a free agent after the 2023 season.

Kelvin Joseph was drafted to allow the team to avoid giving Anthony Brown a big contract in 2023.
- He was also expected to be an injury replacement starter at outside CB which he has done.

Oh no, I’m not labeling him a bust. Just stating that it’s frustrating that a 2nd round pick likely won’t start until year three at the earliest. Not what you’d hope for.

Aside from Joseph, I don’t understand the obsession with replacing Brown. He’s a damn good CB and has been even better this year than last. He’s going to get a nice contract this coming offseason.

Next year when Brown is gone, Joseph, Bland, and Wright will all be trying for that spot. May the best man win.

Until then, we have good depth and a good gunner on ST’s. Yes you want your 2nd round pick doing more than that, but if he’s a good starter next year and the year after then it’ll be a lot less disappointing. We’ll have to see.
I think it’s about paying Brown and the Cowboys not wanting to do that. IMO

thats a good perspective but the problem is that the draft is for getting cheap productive players. If they’re nut productive until year 3-4 when they will need to be paid, it’s a problem and believe me he will want to be paid

They won’t, and his job will be there for the taking by one of the young trio of CB’s.

If you get two years of good starting production from Joseph you gotta be happy. Blaming him for not taking the job from a very good CB is strange.

This is exactly right.

I don’t understand why fans are surprised. He only played a handful of games in college and he was not impressive at all other than having a good physique for the DB position. He was a terrible draft pick with very limited ability.

We could have taken Asante Samuels Jr. Not as physically gifted. But a much better corner.

I'm disappointed KJ hasn't made the CB2 role his own this season. Not because I don't like Brown, he's fine but I want more than fine.

There's surely an expectation your round 2 draft pick is a starter by year 2 so you have to say he hasn't delivered......and no, I don't count ST play as contributing from a 2nd rounder.

He may see the field next year as a starter so there's still opportunity but we've "lost" 2 years of cheap rookie contract. This isn't a 4th rounder, we have to expect premium drafts to contribute out the gate.

Diggs spot is solidified inthe secondary, Brown is a solid vet who can play both outside/slot and hasn't done anything bad to justify benching him for a 2nd year player so how inthe world can people label KJ a bust when majority of his playing time is based off special team play thus far? His contribution is to provide depth and special team play.

People in here are comparing KJ & Bland like one doesn't play outside and the other is inthe slot. Lewis has been banged up, which presented Bland an opportunity to show what he can bring to the table

That is the hindsight. However, Joseph is contributing at gunner. He has been excellent at gunner and he is providing depth. If we do lose Diggs or Brown, Joseph will be the next man up.
For me I’d rather Asante.
