ridiculous panic...we lose a LB who was not a starter, a guy who is undersized for ILB in the 3-4, but a guy who can come in on passing downs because he's faster.

Those kinds of guys are NOT hard to find...we can easily draft another if we need one. Burnett was drafted fairly high to be a starter, and now he may receive starter money....it's nothing to panic over.

For the starting defense, Brooking is not a young guy and is not the long term answer, but while we look for a younger version, he is a definite upgrade...this is a big, strong, ILB who has led his team in tackles for years, including this past year...he and Brady James are going to make our ILB corps much better, and he already knows Wade and the system...there won't be a learning curve.

This was a great signing for peanuts. Again, Wade is the man regarding our defense now...it's all Wade, and he knows the system and the players better than anyone...I trust this move 100%.
+1...good post:star:

Nothing on any site about Burnett and Miami, so have my doubts.

Brooking will take over for Thomas and we draft a guy that will hopefully someday be the starter. Brooking played outside last year for Atlanta and he had his liabilities especially in coverage, but he has played MLB and knows Wade's scheme. He is bigger than Thomas and just as sure a tackler. He will do fine as a ILB and brings much needed leadership. Overall an upgrade for a couple of years.

Let's hope that Burnett signs with a team that he can start with, do a good job and bring us a high comp next year because I don't see him coming back to the Boys.

I don't understand why the title of this thread hasn't been changed. Unless, of course, it IS official.

I don't think Burnett played enough to warrant starter money. He was a BACKUP and couldn't stay healthy. We get another "Burnett" in the draft.

I'm not too concerned about losing Burnett. He was a good player when he was not out with an injury but he was out with an injury at some point every year it seemed. I would have liked him a lot had he been on the field more consistently.

He got injured writing his blog last year.

Dolphins have some seriously banged up LBs. Crowder's knees are questionable and Burnett is fragile. Porter is getting up there in age too. I'm sure they'll draft LB early and often this year.

I think this says we will certainly draft an ILB.

i totally agree, i would love burnett back, he would tag team well with brooking;

and give us more size at linebacker, im not knocking zach thomas, i loved zach here, but as we all know, zach is too small to play inside linebacker

another thing to think about if burnett isnt here, that means carpenter is your coverage linebacker and im not sold on carpenter

also if you lose burnett, then you have to go and draft 2 linebackers, one to groom to take place of burnett on coverage and one to groom behind carpenter if carpenter doesnt stay, so that takes away from your draft too
