So much for you adding anything constructive to the discussion.

I'd expect more from a mod, but then again... it's you.

You're the one that tossed out the term "successful"... successful compared to what? His numbers do not reflect a superiority at playing the position in any of his seasons played to merit the term "successful" be used to describe his performance.

Drew Bledsoe was successful in the NFL, lets start a thread about non running qb's who were successful but never won nothing.

Just said on MNF Countdown that Vince Young is similar to Romo in that he has mobility but doesn't have the veteran Wide Receivers that Romo has.

I am a big Vince Young fan, but Romo is a much better player than Young and their game is not comparable.

both play QB...thats about it

Romo is eons a better player right now than Yougn is, and it isnt even remotely close

Again, you're missing the point.

Not being an arse when I say this... read the whole thread and you'll understand.

If you know me then you know I think Vick SUCKS and pretty much hate him. But if you understood what was going on, you'd understand my answer.

Watching the game right now... not saying Young is good (he isn't), but my god... his WRs suck.

Bledsoe was a better QB than Mike Vick... and it pains me greatly to say that.

A running QB has to have SOME type of passing ability (better then what Young has now), but they don't have to have a high QB rating to be successful. The point is they may only be average passers, but they make up for it with their running ability.

Now, that said, there is no QB in history that has been able to accomplish that (that I know of) other then Mike Vick (again, for a couple of seasons before teams figured him out).

I'd say if a QB is around an 80 QB rating, throwing about 55% and about even TD/INT ratio, but is also running for 60 yards a game plus adding 8 - 10 TDs a season... that's pretty good.

Too bad that person doesn't exist.

Point is you can be a successful running QB as long as your are at LEAST an average passer. Young doesn't fit that description. Sometimes he throws some awesome looking passes... but sometimes he throws like a cross between Chad Hutchinson and Quincy Carter. He sometimes throws like Chincy Carchinson.

I agree with all of that. Unfortunately, we have yet to have the guy who is an average passer, along with the running ability, but to assume that it will never exist just cause of the limited past (where running QBs got a bad rap), just isn't right.

Vince is just too young (pun intended) to assume he can't be that guy.

Yes, Vick sucks, but he was successful for a couple of seasons. Not as a passer, but as a player. His running made up for some of his passer shortcomings (for a couple of seasons).

But he never put in the work to improve his passing game. I guess he was too busy drowning dogs.

In an attempt to break the awkwardness....

I have a friend who was a huge Vick fan. I would get in these type of discussions with him. Vick was great for fantasy points and ESPN highlights but when you needed him to win the game by hitting an open receiver he would run it on instinct. On the other hand, during his rookie year, Young was able to win the games in the clutch, but it wasn't all him singlehandedly.

He has not improved, actually, he has regressed dramatically. Maybe its his horrible wide receivers, maybe its the lack of pacman, but I don't see him being successful either.

Staying on topic, he definitely is not Romo. Romo can make it work with any wide receiver by adjusting his play, as of right now Vince can't do that.

I think the only similarity is that both Vince and Romo are black. It stops there.

Same people slamming Vince Young sure sound a lot like the same ones that slammed Campbell last week.

And like I said, I haven't seen a lot of Tennessee games but just from this one alone I've seen A LOT of really bad drops by Titan receivers...Just crazy...Some very well thrown balls.

If there was no Romo, you'd all be on the Vince Young bandwagon if we had a shot at em :D

Vince Young has a QB rating of 38 on play-action pass.

Geeze, you think he would be better since their run game is as good as it has been.

I'll sum it up. A running QB can be a bonus as long as his passing isn't a detriment to the team.

For example, more interceptions than TDs. Or missing throws he HAS to make when a guy breaks open.
