Lol when we stuck it to Washington we were praising him. We lost a road game against a pretty good team, by one point. If the offense clicked in the least yesterday, the defense wouldn't have been on the field to allow a career day for Megatron. Step off the ledge guys, were still in first, and the losses that we have been handed have been respectable.

YAAAAAY!! Orange slice and participation trophy time! You tried hard !! You BARELY lost!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

can't blame the offense for the loss. on the road against a decent opponent, you should expect tough situations. but the fact is, late in the game the offense handed the defense TWO 10 point leads, and both were blown resulting in a big fat L.

we have lost 9 games where we scored 30 or more since 2006. not surprisingly, it leads the NFL. just a inept franchise with a defense that hasn't been anything dominant since what? 2003?

Good news is then there should be no problem clearing out the whole lot of them (coaches) at the end of the year since none of them are doing much of anything. Whoever the new HC will be won't be forced to keep someone he doesn't want.

Kiffen is doing what in my opinion is the unpardonable sin of coaching: he is forcing his team to play a scheme that his personell doesn't fit. As a Michigan fan I got to see three years of it up in Michigan when Rich Rod was around so I know it when I see it. We are all down on Claiborne but I think he is just in the wrong scheme. The guy is a man coverage player and we have him playing zone. Even Revis is struggling in Tampa for the same reason.

I don't think we can fire Kiffen right now, though. We are still in first place so this is no time to blow up the season. Let's finish the season....

...then we fire him.

I don't agree with this. Kiffen is actually going away from his scheme a lot, here in Dallas. The reason we have been more successful these past few games is because Kiffen has gone away from his Tampa 2 and went more to a Tighter Man Coverage scheme and it's worked. That's not what Kiffen's defense uses typically. He realized that we don't have the personnel to run a Tampa2 like he did in TB. However, yesterday, we didn't run a lot of Man On Pressure scheme. We played a lot of Zone and, like the previous games, we got torched. Kiffen, IMO, knew that we could not play physical man coverage against Detroit. The 1st time we did play tight man, Megatron swatted away our biggest, most physical CB and broke a big play. Kiffen new we could not match up physically. I don't think he's trying to simply run his scheme no matter what. I think he's already changed but I also think that he's undermanned and it's showing up in the 4th quarter of ball games. We don't have the rotations. When we don't score a lot of provide the Defense with TOP to rest, we get beat down in the 4th quarter. We lost TOP by nearly 11 minutes yesterday. We don't have the personnel to stay out on the field that long. JMO

if you want to succeed and hold onto this division lead, you have to cut the weak link and hope you just land on the guy that'll help.

I'm on board for firing kiffin and to be honest, i think it may actually happen sometime tonight or tomorrow. the stats are staggering. the philly game was a mirage as foles put out one of the worst quarterback performances of all time.

I don't think that matters. I think that things happen in Dallas to appease. We are not big on long term strategy IMO. That's part of the identity issue that I believe we have. If we had a real plan and we actually stuck with it, we would always kinda know what type of coach we should be looking for, what type of player etc.

We wouldn't be changing HCs and Coordinators every few seasons. We wouldn't be drafting players like Felix Jones in the 1st round. Things like that would not happen because we would have more structure to our organization. This is just my observation but over the years, I don't see a lot of rhyme or reason to a lot of what we do.

Not changing HCs? Isn't that what everyone is calling for here? Isn't that why Jerry is criticized? For sticking with Garrett and letting him develop?

I do agree with you that personnel decisions have been poor. What we do is look for the home run ball every time. So many picks and decisions have been about that. It pays off sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't. I do think that has changed a bit - picks like Frederick and Smith do look like long term, non-sexy type of decisions.

The fact is, IMO, that the Defense actually did a lot more for the Offense the vice versa. The Defense handed the Offense 4 Turnovers that resulted in 10 points. We only scored 10 points off of 4 turnovers and Lee ran one back himself so really, they only scored a FG. Think about that.

I think the door swings both ways in this loss. Both sides of the ball made contributions to this one and so did Detroit. CJ and Stafford played some pretty good football, especially CJ.

This defense is dead last in the league (32nd) in yards allowed. Yesterday, the defense allowed the most yards in Cowboys history. Through half a season, the Cowboys have already tied the record with (4) 400+ yard passers. This is inexcusable. I know we have injuries on the D line, but we had injuries last year far worse yet Ryan was fired.

This is one of the worst defense I've seen in my life. Even the gameplans are horrid. We single cover Mega freakin Tron all game long when he was essentially the Lions only receiving threat. Look what the Lions did. They doubled Dez and Witten all game long. Fire Kiffin right now.

Callahan's one broke records for the least amount of rushing yards and he got a promotion. Only in Dallas.

Only team in NFL history to allow four different QB's to throw for more than 400 yards in a game. And we still have another half of the season to go. Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Cutler and even Ponder must be drooling right now.

its not like we have a reputation of not giving up 400 yard passers. we've done it an NFL record 4 times already with 8 games still to play with rodgers, brees, eli and RG3 coming up still. hell, even cutler might be back in time for the monday nighter. #NFCleast

I don't think so. I'm not calling for it so clearly, everybody is not calling for change. I'm actually not calling for a change in the coaching staff at all so the answer would be no. Everybody is not calling for that. Jerry, is criticized for many things. Some deserved, some not. At the end of the Season, I think evaluations should be made and decisions based off of those but not now.

At the end of the day, there is no threat to the GM so that's a structural fault in the organization. I think we all know that if we had another GM, that GM would have been gone long ago. Heck, Jerry fired one of the Greatest GMs in the history of the game, for no real good reason to be honest. This is a big part of the problem but it's not going to change so we get what we get unfortunately.

playing zone against elite receivers is about the dumbest thing you can do, and yet i only make 45,000 a year. should be making 2 million with a headset on the sideline coaching the defense of the dallas cowboys.

That game was winnable yesterday. I think we did fall down on the clock management side of things and it, once again, cost us. Until the lesson is learned, we will continue to lose games like this.

This defense is on pace to give up the most passing yards in a single season in NFL history. And by a lot. This defense is absolutely terrible. Three 80 yard drives in the 4th. 24pts given up. Blew two 10pt leads right away.

Gave up 623yds. Disgusting.

NFL live did a great job (shockingly) showing what the arizona cardinals did. they had 2 corners playing calvin johnson at all times. make the other dudes beat you, which I'm sure wouldn't happen. megatron said after the game that he was single covered a lot.

i had to laugh because it was totally believable. only this team would single cover calvin johnson. i also saw a lot of zone coverage at crucial parts of the game and the lions made the cowboys pay for it.

We've had 8 games in a new system, one starter on the DL, players off the street, and a new safety replaced by a newer one both from Smallville U or smaller. You were told by many there would be growing pains to be nice about it. Complain if you like but this defense is giving up less points than last year at 23 ppg. Not what we want obviously but not a complete bust either. The offense still needs to help out with marginal Y/P.

I agree, we should have bracketed him all day and we definitely should have prevented him from beating us on the last play. The problem is that we don't really have enough CBs to play that against him. We really only have 3 right now and our Safeties, well, they are not CBs. Our injuries are really forcing us to do some things that we probably wouldn't normally do. It's tough.
