I'm wondering the same thing. We dog out Kirk Cousins on this site but hype up Romo when their careers are parallel. Kirk had Diggs and Justin Jefferson. Romo had Dez and TO. Romo had Murray and Cousins had Dalvin Cook.
And Dakota has had now a better coach and still nada. You Dakota excusers keep forgetting coaching. Romo had Wade and Ginger for all but half a season as a starter.

Cousins=Romo=Dak, those 3 are interchangeable. It's not an insult, those qbs need a lot of help, if you were starting off a franchise these 3 guys wouldn't be your first pick , but if you got them, it's not a horrible deal

Kirk Cousins has played 11 seasons for the Commanders and Vikings. He has thrown for 37,140 yards and 252 touchdowns.

Tony Romo played 13 seasons for the Cowboys. He threw for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns.

Tony Romo had a 2-4 record in the playoffs in his career.

Kirk Cousins is 1-4 in the playoffs in his career.

Kirk Cousins has a passer rating of 93.7 with 1,047 yards, 5 touchdowns and 1 interception in 5 games in the playoffs in his career.

Tony Romo had a passer rating of 93.0 with 1,316 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 6 games in the playoffs in his career.

:omg:

Is Kirk Cousins the new.......Tony Romo?
Everybody gets this wrong.

Cousins has started 142 games, Romo 127. That's about one whole season more.

Always go by games started.

What do you mean it’s not the same league? Romo played in the late 2000's and 2010's......when it was a passing league. The isn't like Aikman's era.
that’s not entirely true. There have been huge changes to rules the last 10-15 years. None bigger than in 2018:

In part because scoring decreased 4.6 percent in 2017, the NFL will emphasize rules regarding pass defense in 2018. That includes defensive pass interference and holding, but the major foul to focus on is illegal contact. Officials will more strictly enforce the rule that limits contact by a defender against a receiver to within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. It also prohibits defenders from using hands or arms to contact the receiver unless it is to defend or protect against impending contact.

Officials threw 38 flags for illegal contact in 2017, down from 64 in 2016 and 86 in 2015. That trend will reverse in 2018.

This not only is affecting flags thrown in games, but the very way DB coaches are teaching their players. NFL passing has transformed since this rule and few others in years previous.

For reference, in 2007 when Tony had his best W/L record as a pro, there had been 1 5000 yard passer ever, and it happened 23 years prior.

This year, when Cousins had his best W/L record as a pro, he’s doing it in an era where there have been 15 separate instances of 5000 yards passing in a season. In just 15 short years since that Romo year. That’s a phenomenal difference.

Tony’s passing yards are not equatable to what Kirk is doing now

How many seasons did Kirk Cousins carry his team by running for his life and making plays while he did it?

I mean Dak sucks....we know he's trash so I thought we'd discuss Kirk Cousins and Romo?

Romo had 3700 passing yards in his "MVP LEVEL" season in 2014...but you want me to believe the league is completely changed from now and 2014? Alright lol.

And 5k yards is not the gauge. Guys don't even throw for 5k yards frequently in 2022.

Can't compare stats directly across eras.
Have to normalize individual stats against the distribution of those stats within the league at the same time.
Staubach's highest season QB rating was 104.
Kirk had a couple of seasons higher than that. He's not better.
When Staubach made 104, the next highest player was Griese, at 91.
Tony led the league in QBR in 2014. The highest Cousins has ever been was 6. Twice. Tony was 1,3,6,8.
Tony was better.

Tony Romo passer rating ranking by season:
DNQ, DNQ, 5, 5, 8, 8, DNQ, 4, 10, 8, 1, DNQ

Kirk Cousins passer rating ranking by season:
DNQ, DNQ, 5, 7, 12, 10, 4, 8, 4, 13

Romo ranks marginally better compared to his contemporaries but its not a huuuuge gap.

Probably the same amount as Romo did? Well except the Bernadeau and Nate Livings years. Those were bad.
I remember those guys as upgrades from what we had.
Bill Nagy started 4 games at LG.
Cory Procter started 11 games at LG in 2008.

I'm the President of the Phil Costa Fan Club. Also the only member.

But gotta admit his mystery snaps were a hoot. I don't know of *any* QB who ever had to handle so many bad shotgun snaps in a season. And I don't remember Tony losing one. Miracle Man.
