Matt Cassel with the Patriots

Man if he can somehow rekindle this kind of performance with us, we could easily be sitting at .500 or better by the time Romo comes back.

Sorry, he gets the same deck that Weeden got: Jason, Lucky and Devin and not HoF candidates like Bill, prime Moss and prime Welker. And oh yeah, he also gets an added 7 years of wear and tear, and a defense that nets him a whopping 2 turnovers in 5 games! But other than those minor details, it's almost exactly like New England.

Dez and Witten aren't HOF candidates when it's all said and done?

Your boy Weeden had a Hall of Fame tight end this season and last along with Dez Bryant and still stink it up against Arizona. We really don't even know if these recievers are all that bad because they're playing with such a terrible quarterback. There were times they got open and Weeden refused to throw it because he's too scared. If he was more decisive on his throws the recievers would've made more plays and been more effective against the press.

Then certainly your hero Cassel will do much better against the Giants? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is? Anybody can run their mouths, but phonies like you tend to get real quiet when their hero Cassel comes back in two weeks and turns in an even worse performance than Weeden. What do you say?

I'd be surprised if we dont draft QB,RB and WR this coming draft

I would encourage you to prepare yourself to be surprised then. They've already displayed the unwillingness to pay RBs what the good ones are going for. They just paid Dez and Romo more money. Those positions are not going to be filled by drafted resources any time soon.

They have to draft a quarterback. You can't just sit there when your star quarterback has now gotten hurt in each of the last three seasons and is going on age 36 and just stand pat and not try and get a guy in there that at least has a chance to be your quarterback of the future.

I'll take the potential downside of multiple INTs if it means we actually have a punchers chance in some of these games before Romo gets back.

It just felt like these last 3 games, once we fell behind, it would take something so crazily out of character for Weeden to get us back in it. I know he tied the game in New Orleans, but that entire drive I'm thinking, where has THIS guy been? And it may have been more of a function of the defense he was going against.

At least with a guy like Cassel, who will take chances, you can at least feel a little excitement in the possibility of something good happening.

Who said it was almost exactly like New England? I just simply stated if he could rekindle those past performances we'd be in business. And no he doesn't have Moss and Welker, but he'll atleast have open WRs to throw to. From the all 22 our guys are getting open, just Weeden can't (and won't attempt to) get them the ball. The deck Weeden has been handed is above average as a whole, Weeden is just trash and in over his head.

Honestly, does someone else having a positive view point just crap on your miserable parade? Sucks to suck, I guess.

Weeden is trash but your hero Cassel is trash too. If Cassel is so great, then he will do so much better right? Why don't we have a friendly bet on it? Or are you a chicken like your buddy RunDMC? Have some faith in your hero... and some pride in yourself, that you're not just running your mouth and actually believe what's coming out of it. Don't be illin' like RunDMC.

Cassel isn't great, he's hardly good most of the time; however to say he's the same as Weeden is speaking with ignorance. Weeden has poor pocket awareness, always has. He doesn't know when to step up into a pocket and deliver throws. He rolls out when the line isn't breaking down and can't throw on the run. He doesn't go through his read and keys in on one player.

Cassel isn't going to be outstanding in every game, but he will go through his reads, he will step up in the pocket to deliver throws and he will deliver on target passes while on the run. This alone is an upgrade. He's capable of winning games and has with 3 separate teams.

You're the only one calling Cassel a hero. I haven't seen anyone anointing Cassel as the second coming of the Christ. I only see people who want to give Cassel a chance over Weeden. What, you'd rather stick with Weeden? Lol.

People start destroying you, your "putting words in other people's mouths", and your argument so you resort to the blowhard, chest beating "put your money where your mouth is"?

Lol this guy.

I am trying to get a handle on what people are expecting out of Cassel. I don't know what to expect- other than I am hoping for more throws downfield than we've been getting. Let me ask you this...while we are waiting for the return of Romo, if I gave you this stat line for Cassel, would you sign up for it every single week. And I understand you cant tell everything from a basic stat line, but here we go...

15 of 29, 205 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

Would you take this every game?

2 TD's a game? Yeah I'll take that. Considering Weeden has only two for the entire season.

If we can manage to get a rushing TD that's 21 points plus maybe a field goal or two. I think that should be enough to win at least two games.

I'll take my chances with a guy who gives the team a chance. As long as any INTs are deep in their half of the field.Eh

They already put that in his contract when dallas signed him: "If you throw an int do it always deep in the half of the oposing team".

so no need to worry. we will be fine.

This is wholly dependent on how our run game is doing and how well our defense is holding up.

That stat line alone isn't going to win you football games.

His balls are prettier than Weedone's.

I don't want to hear a word about how pretty his passes look. Weeden can throw beautiful passes and it does not matter.

Give me a Peyton Manning wobble ball that gets in the right spot all day every day.

The difference needs to come in the confidence to throw the damn ball into a smaller window than Weeden would. You can't score in this league if you don't throw the ball.

Weeden had all the confidence in the world. He has an arm and wants to take those throws, said so repeatedly when he first took over for Romo.

The staff is who lacks the confidence. That is a big reason why he is upset with the benching. I don't think for a second it is because he likes to dink and dunk the ball. That is not how he operated in Cleveland. This is a case where they were trying to protect themselves from the INTs and risky passes and it resulted in these gameplans.

Hopefully the other big difference is that he actually has a little pocket awareness. Not only did WeDone have none, sometimes he actually stepped towards the defender.
