What, no way, Dude. It won’t be near the top five. In three years, when we still have him under contract for another 3 years he’ll be 15th highest paid for sure - values for tackles will continue to increase.

Go look at the guarantees we have on Tyron, FredBeard, and Martin...

This was a smart deal 6 years for 32 guaranteed!

Yeah Dude.

I just looked at the contracts for right tackles. Of the 15 highest paid right now, only ONE is up for a new contract before 2022.......... Jack Conklin. Actually, I am wrong, there is a 2nd.......... Brian Bulaga but he's over 30 and likely won't get a big contract extension at his age.

So yeah, in 2 years, Collins will likely still be paid like a Top 5 right tackle. That's insane.

Good for him! Jerry was good to him when he gave him that early extension. Collins was good to the team in return. He hasn't been Pro Bowl caliber, but he is on the same path as Tuenei and Free.

I'll take that. He is a good solid player.

Solid players don't make Top 3 money at their position. Well normally they don't. But this is Dallas, so anything is possible when it comes to contracts.

Well, I guess we’re screwed forever..

I love this deal..

Durable, serviceable tackle, and a potentially dominant guard between FredBreard and Tyrone..

Better to sign these guys now before this new CBA is put into place.

Or they decide they don’t like their current and just holdout with numerous years remaining...

That said, I did NOT see that one coming. So why did we draft McGovern and Williams?
That’s high draft capital for a guard and a backup. Unless we foresee Mc as a Tyron replacement.
I thought surely Lael was a goner after this season if not trade bait this year.
Wow, maybe it was also a shot at Zeke.

Serviceable tackles (serviceable players in general) shouldn't be paid Top 3 at their position.

How is it you guys don't grasp this concept? I mean shoot, why stop there? Let's pay Tyrone Crawford another huge contract because he's a "serviceable" DL.

This is a questionable deal for an OT that struggles in pass protection but, granted, is a good run blocker. And I am going to hate it more if it means down the road we have to let Byron Jones walk or Maliek Collins walk if he has a good year or Robert Quinn walk if he has a good year.

That is fair, but you could argue that Collins has played better (or at least as good as) Ja'Wuan James who was guaranteed $32MM (who just signed a deal in March). So they're paying the market price.

It was not.

Collins is an average to slightly above average RT who is being paid like an elite RT.

He is making roughly what Lane Johnson is making. In no world are the two comparable.

So only guys who are free agents get new contracts? (Can somebody tell Zeke?)
