So then the reports of him saving $5.7MM against the cap this year were wrong? Because he was a $10MM cap hit prior to the contract.

Possibly, bc I see his salary is going up this year to $11M.

Likely not.

Only one RT in the top 10 right now is up for a new contract............... Jack Conklin. Everyone else in the Top 10 is signed through 2022. The only other one in the Top 15 is Bulaga and he's over 30, so he probably isn't getting any massive extension in the future either.

Lane Johnson signed two years ago and he's still the 2nd highest paid RT.

Guys get new deals and 3rd year guys emerge all the time

Lane Johnson signed in 2016 and slid one spot in 2 seasons.

Collins isn't sliding to 7th or 8th in one offseason if he's the 2nd or 3rd highest paid RT .

4 of the 5 OL are in the top 6 paid at their position, add the QB, RB and WR and tell me how this team keeps a decent D together and I mean decent, not good, because I am not over the top on this D as some seem to be. They were average and are until proven otherwise.

I think Jerry knows that the cap is going to be rising significantly.

How is this team friendly? this guy is not even top 10 RT,he gets Dak killed on a regular basis.I have not questioned the FO moves for a while now but this without question a big blunder.

Surprised we're retaining Collins as he's one of the players I presumed would get more elsewhere. Its clear though the Cowboys are signing the players they feel they can get resonable deals done with.

Also think its a tatic aimed at Dak, Zeke, and Elliott now that the pie is getting smaller. Can't imagine Dak wants to leave so maybe it helps there. The other two guys not so much.

Well, that was a surprise. Sounded like he would take a hike at season end.

Except they freed $5mill this year under the cap by doing this...

This might not be true if you believe Albert Breer's tweet. An earlier tweet said that this new deal was saving $5MM against the cap.

Well Collins was a $10MM cap hit in 2019 with $6.6MM of that in his base salary. Breer is claiming he got a pay raise on that $6.6MM with a first year salary of $11MM.

So I am not sure how his cap hit goes down if his salary is higher than his cap hit prior to the contract. We still need to see some of the nitty gritty details.
