Dak fans think Jerry really traded for a QB3, but Cowboys fans know that's not how Jerry does business.

Jerry don't operate like that.

This is Dak's last shot and Jerry is sending a message.
So your on record as saying Dak wont be extended before next year? Jerry is saying "Bring on a 60 million cap hit in 2024"..lol come on man use your head. Jerry is telling MM "Hey this kids has some real skills can we develope him so in 2025 we can talk about Dak's abilities".

You do not know Jones at all.

34 years of observing Jones' actions makes it extremely more likely he hopes Trey Lance will take over for Dak Prescott after a number of seasons. That said, Jones WILL back Lance if Prescott gets injured and Lance has a training camp and preseason that knocks his socks off.

There is nothing Lance has demonstrated in college and the pros that suggests Lance will outshine Jones' opinion of a healthy Prescott. Seriously, this man has been around for decades. He does not think like how Prescott's critics think.

If he ruins Prescott's career I'm willing to re-evaluate this trade.
It just felt like deja vu with this trade. I remember when Dak got drafted everybody thought it was going to be 3 years before he would see the field. And no one thought of him as a franchise QB but more of a project. Just saying...

Right and the thing the ABD crowd doesn't get is "Moving on from Dak" costs alot more than just Dak with his current contract..you'll be moving on from several players with Dak and that cap hit.

I don’t understand why on this board everything has to be a competition. At first is was Ferguson vs Schoonmaker. Both guys will play and make the Cowboys a better team. Lance might be the future one day but for this season at least he upgrades the quarterback room. I could certainly see Lance being our short yardage quarterback with a couple of packages that will make the offense better. I see the same crap with Gallup vs Tolbert. Relax enjoy the season we have a good football team.

Honestly this is win-win for the cowboys. For a 4th round pick they get a 23 yo top QB prospect who had injuries that stole his ability to progress. His age is the same age as many ROOKIE qbs.

His chances of starting are low but not impossible. His chances of becoming a good backup are solid with Coop turning 30. Even as a backup, the cowboys might be able to flip him for a solid pick

Lance is a terrible QB right now and in no way will supplant Dak. Maybe in 2 years if he develops a little. Dak will be getting an extension soon. You are going to have to deal with Dak probably 3 more years at least.
Whatever helps Dak fans cope.

Jerry has owned the Cowboys for over 30 years. When does he ever trade picks for players he has no interest in giving a shot to?

Give me a few examples of Jerry trading picks for players he has no interest in using outside of being 3rd on the depth chart.

If Dak stinks it up he won't be extended.

The pressure is on Dak and he will buckle like he always does.

Jerry sent a message doing something he NEVER does.

Dak fans nervous is showing.

Dak is getting extended.. book it, there will be no 60mill cap hit next year and hopefully by that time Trey has shown what he needs to be firmly in the QB2 slot with a chance to push Dak in 2025.. Jerry would spend a pick on that so would I.

Lance is still raw but I’m excited for what he might bring to this team and I think everyone should be. I see far too many Dak fanboys already dismissing him due to how he “failed” in SF. He didn’t get a shot! Let’s give Lance a fair chance in Dallas and not run him out of town. I hope Dak has welcomed him to the team already. Show some leadership for a change!
Trey will need 3 years to realistically develop to the point where he can compete with Dak. Thats if everything goes right for him and he has real talent. 2 years would be a miracle.

I welcome any QB that can beat out Dak.

I know many Cowboys fans are thinking Lance as a project the Cowboys will put on the backburner for now. I don't think so. Given Dak's injury history, the Cowboys need to get Lance up to speed to, at the very least, be QB2. And I hate to say it, the Eagles exposed Cooper Rush and his limitations. If Dak goes down, Rush is not the QB you want starting long-term. So Cowboys fans should get ready. I can totally see Dak getting his job taken away the same way it happened to Romo. I get that Dak is only 30 but in terms of playing years, since Romo didn't really play until he was 27 and started breaking down in his 8th/9th season and with Dak is going into his 8th season, we should expect that there is a decent chance that Dak doesn't play all 17 games healthy.

Just get ready.....
BWAAAAA!!!

Ok buddy, we will all get ready for the Lance train and Dak's demise. :lmao::lmao::laugh::laugh::lmao2::lmao2:

You Dak are all great comedy around here. Keep up the good work!!!

Dude drop the fake mask for a second and realize what your saying, tell me what all we lose if they cut ties with Dak with no extension in place...This has nothing to do with the "Dak fans" 2 things- A) Dak wont play bad enough to dismantle the team next year but Trey could grow enough to overtake and older Dak in 2 years. B) A 60 million cap hit will cost you more than just Dak he is hitting 29 mill on the cap right now and we dont have the reserves to pay the 60 right now... again use some logic in your arguments.

At first I wasn't sure about this and thought Lance is garbage if Shanahan can't fix him. But I'm willing to take a wait and see approach to see if he can develop because he really hasn't had much playing time. It would be nice if he can replace Dak.
Little known fact…Shanahan is not a genius.

Guy is a good coach but over confident and flakes out in big spots. Lance was green as can be coming in. Blame the Niners.

BTW there is a non zero probability Lance turns into something special.

Nice bait. Not biting. I never said Jones wanted Lance to sit permanently as a third-stringer. In short, I stated my expectation of Lance being added to one day become Prescott's eventual successor.

My assumption is not based on a specific circumstance you thought up. I go by ALL the decisions he has signed off on at the position for decades.

This particular move by Jones does not mirror what you wish to happen, like his acquiring Amari Cooper for picks to immediately start as the NUMBER ONE RECEIVER, MIDWAY through the regular season, to boast a struggling wide receiver corps consisting of Michael Gallup and Cole Beasley.

That is the sort of trade-and-personal expectation you are thinking for the starting franchise quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, who has Jones' full support. It is more likely Jones thinks he has added his Jordan Love to the roster. That assumption aligns far more with what Jones has approved over the years than what you hope for.
