What????

Landry had a player that was taking drugs on the sideline. Have you ever seen "North Dallas 40"? There is a lot of truth to that movie.

Jimmy coached at U of Miami (aka 'thug university'). Don't even tell me that he recruited choir boys.

Both Jimmy and Landry would have put up with all of TO's baggage. Irvin was also known to fall asleep in team meetings, and Jimmy put up with it.

Jimmy, in his own book, said that different rules apply to different players. Star players get away with things that other players don't get away with. He said this himself. If he is singing a different tune, then he is a liar.

Oh so being suspended for having a cocaine party with hookers isn't selfish? Didn't his missing those five games where we went 2-3 instead of probably 4-1 have something to do with the fact we were knocked out by Carolina?

First of all, you said he lost us 5 games. Now, considering he missed 5 games and we went 2-3 in said games, the most he could have POSSIBLY lost us was 3.

However, your logic is so horribly skewed it almost isnt woprth discussing. The 1996 team had a rash of injuries, Emmitt was off that year after his neck injury, and we had lost much of our defensive depth from the year before. Carolina was the better team that season.

wasn't there a huge drug scandal at Miami while Jimmy was coaching? Irvin was at the program when Jimmy was coaching, and yet still drafted him in the pros, and seeing Irvin have a coke problem in the pros, it must have been a known fact for Jimmy since their days at Miami

if Jimmy saw that TO was what he needed to help improve his team and win games, he sure as hell would bring him on

of course he'd give him a lashing after the stunt he pulled yesterday

Irvin was drafted in 1988 by Landry

Yeah Jimmy may not have liked this particular deal but a few weeks ago he had no beef with TO. He mentioned it along with bringing in Haley back in the day.

He's smart enough to know that having great players are what tend to win ballgames in this league.

Or do we wanna presume he coulda got it done here with Steve Walsh, Curvin Richards and Alvin Harper as his Triplets? ;)

Better team my arse! Irvin and Erik Williams were accused of holding a gun to a female and forcing her into sex acts the week prior to the loss to the Panthers.

While the case proved to have no merit, Irvin was a distraction that whole year. He was quiet for awhile, and then decided to give Everett McIver a slit throat. Yet coach after coach put with his arse.

I'll take Owens' schtick all day versus drugs, hookers, and slitting a teammate's throat with scissors.

With Jimmy Johnson, we would have won the SB in 1994 for sure, and possibly the SB in 1996. It has always been my opinion that, even had we gotton by Carolina, we mwouldnt have beaten Green Bay. They were the best team in football that season.

And yes, Carolina was better than Dallas in 1996.

Yes and TO tried to commit suicide and it's something new with this guy every week.
Oh by the way Irvin's got a fist full of rings and TO has nothing but destroyed teams

Landry and Jimmie weren't restricted by the salary cap.

It was something new with Irvin every week also, but we were winning so it didn't garner much attention.

My point is that Jimmy could care less what Irvin was doing on his time, as long as he showed up on Sundays. White House?????

Irvin didn't get his jones for coke overnight. He tried out the different grades, selected a dopeman, and paid dearly to ride the white horse. His demeanor in 1995 was vastly different from his earlier years.

Landry fired Henderson for waving a bandanna during a Commanders loss. Jimmy's thugs didn't bring selfishness to the field. Anyway Jimmy went off on TO yesterday

Yeah, but Hollywood didn't make a single tackle in that game.

Like it matters if Tom and Jimmy would have let TO play on their teams.... with the players they had... they probably WOULD have TO on their teams.... anyways......

TO should be held accountable for not DOING HIS JOB... lets get these problems fixed... not cry over them....

But that said, what Owens did in the endzone epitomized selfishness.

I think he was ignorant of the football-as-a-prop and lying down rules. I believe he was mroe stupid than selfish.

Jimmy never took in a player in the NFL with TO's reputation. Michael Irvin was a loud mouthed, flambouyant, spotlight crazing star with an ego the size of downtown Manhatten, but he ALWAYS put that behind him on gameday and brought it. He never carried his antics into the locker room or onto the field. He was a TEAM player and NEVER whined about his role.

Irvin stabbed our starting center with scissors.

No, Carolina was not better than Dallas in 1996. They were equally matched teams until Dallas lost Irvin to injury in the playoff game. That gave Carolina the advantage.

Not having Irvin to start the season cost Dallas 3 very possible wins and a different attitude for the rest of the season. Those 3 losses cost Dallas homefield advantage against the Panthers in the playoffs.

There is no way that either Landry or Johnson would have cut T.O. after the Commanders game. That is a ridiculous notion. I agree that knowing T.O.'s history that neither coach would jump at the chance to sign him, but if he were already on the team they weren't going to cut him. Why? What purpose would it serve?

That is two of the most unsubstantiated comments I have ever read here.

Actually, I have said this for a long time, but you should have to pass an I.Q. test to be able to post on the forum.

Of course, anyone should be able to read threads, but it should take a certain I.Q. level to be able to post.

That might eliminate such drivel as this.

Jimmy Johnson said more than once Sunday that he thinks TO is a distraction to this team. I'm not saying Jimmy is right or wrong but Jimmy is on record about his feelings about TO. Landry he tolerated only so much but would cut even productive players
