LB Need

I have heard rumors that he still wants to resign with the raiders.

I have also seen it posted in here that Sean Lee himself went along with the staff when they scouted LVE at a private workout. THAT.......... is a huge TELL imo. LVE is a specimen but a bit raw,...Lee will be his on field mentor and a better mentor you could not find.
;).maybe they can get physical therapy together..then Lee can really mentor him.

Lee can give LVE some tips about those hammies.

That’s my hope. I like lve but I feel evans is more than ready. I think if he’s there we take him. The whole coaching staff was at Alabama pro day. It’s either for evans or Ridley we’ll see
LVE seems like the Byron Jones of this years LB group in the draft. I'm simply leary of him.

Good morning fans, I know we have a need at LB, and many "so called" experts are stating we should pick L.V. out of Boise @19. Isn't N. Bowman still available and has anyone heard anything of him coming to Dallas lately? I would rather get him to fill the void and draft a LB in the later rounds. Your thoughts?
How old is Bowman? Exactly!

They want a 3 down LB because the only one who can cover anything is Lee.

Garrett on Jaylon
“The SAM in our defense is an important spot but there is so much nickel defense being played in the NFL. Often times you only have two linebackers out on the field, so you want to give him more than just that role. He might be a SAM in base but you want to make sure he has a role when we’re playing our two linebacker defense as well.”

Smith and Lee are our 3 down LBs. They'll get spelled by other guys.

MLB is now half time, like SLB used to be. We didn't spend squat on SLB when it was half time. I doubt we spend much on MLB now that it is the half time position.

MLB isn't "half time". The two best coverage LBs will play in nickel. It just depends on who's better.

He said he pictured Jaylon in nickel sets because he's good and there's little to no competition there. As it stands, Lee and Jaylon are the 3 down LBs. Okay, yes.

The problem is, Lee is about to be 32 and while Jaylon is promising, no one knows how well he'll play in coverage full time. Lee is a rockstar but even he gets dinged up, because hes a LB, and hes only got a few more starting seasons left.

I think Jaylon is a more natural Will anyway, so it's reasonable to think he'd move to Will if Lee gets injured, and LVE can step in as well. Just in nickel sets obviously. This also is a smart move for the future because Lee doesn't have that much time left.

He'd immediately step in at Mike in base, with Lee/LVE/Jaylon. LBs get dinged up. The last thing you want is Lee or Jaylon getting an injury Week 1 and you're having to start a 7mill Bowman in nickel or a 3rd rounder from the draft for the rest of the year.

I have no doubt that at some point this season LVE will be taking full time snaps. And next year when Lee turns 33 in the offseason, Jaylon will be better and LVE will be going into his sophomore year.

I'm a Boise State fan. I watched LVE play. He is an outstanding player. Now, I can't promise he will transcend to a HOF player in the NFL but I can see why teams would want to draft him. Just watch his game tape of him playing in the Las Vegas Bowl this last year. He flat out dominated against Oregon.

I'm not a Boise State homer, just like I'm not a Dallas homer, but I do think he will be a good player for the team who drafts him.

I'd be fine with LVE or Evans and I'd also be fine with multiple other picks as long as it's not a WR....we need a LG/LB/DT in the first few picks. I'd prefer LVE because his ceiling appears to be much higher.

If you want a MLB, LVE is not that guy. He's a good coverage LB but he doesn't run through guys, turn plays back. Evans is that guy in this draft. Do you want a starting MLB or do you want a Will?

Bowman is a 2 down LB but LVE or Evans are 3 down LBs. You can pick up a Sam later. They need to shed blockers and pursue. They do cover some generally the TE.

29 and approaching 30. Sean Lee is approaching 33 so what's your point? I'm only saying that Bowman would be a decent stop gap for now.
Lee is our old guy. Don’t need another. Just my opinion. Not saying you’re wrong. If we got Bowman on a cheap deal, I’m good with it.

As long as it ain’t Pissburgh! He’ll be a god up there if they get him.
