Again, 9 games out of 64 doesn't scare me away.

And in my opinion, you get what you pay for in this league.

The #28 pick is 4 spots away from being a 2nd rounder. Would that really be a deal-breaker for you?

Glenn is done and Owens probably has two great years left. I would rather acquire a proven receiver now than take my chances elsewhere.

A bird in the hand.....

You kinda missed what I was trying to say but okay. I was trying to put the economic value in context.

I really do wonder what JJ is thinking about improving the WR position.

I am sure the idiot is just fine with Austin, Hurd, and Stanback.

League sources tell the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the asking price for Lions WR Roy Williams is "at least" one first-round pick.

The Lions want to keep Williams in 2008. They'd rather deal Shaun McDonald, who could be an option for the receiver needy 49ers.
Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram
IF Detroit would do it for our #1 (22nd overall) straight-up, I'd do the deal in a heartbeat!!!

I understand, but I think it comes down to our personal opinions of Roy Williams. I consider him a Top 15 receiver in the league despite playing in the cesspool of Detroit without a good quarterback and without a decent offensive line.

Opposite Terrell Owens and the rest of the Cowboys' offensive weapons?

Put him out there and it's truly a pick your poison proposition to any opposing defense.

And I think a backloaded contract would enable his future salaries to replace Glenn's and eventually Owens'.

So money would not prevent me from making the deal.

I agree that if hes healthy and motivated he is.

Bueller? Bueller?

I told you before I feel that it is impossible to have a worthwhile or mature conversation with you. As such I was not going to even try anymore.

Apparently you think still that posing a question proves something. I am sure that you are now going to say that since there is no answer to the question that something is proven and I know youre too lazy to do it yourself.

Whatever Theo. Learn how to argue.

Can you name how many WRs drafted since 2000 have been more productive in their first 4 seasons? It's a simple question really.

You also have the issue of cost. RW is going to be seeking an extension and economically a 1st has tremendous value outside of the top 10.

History has shown that RW will miss time on a yearly basis. That pretty much is s sure thing just like it is with Henry.

roy hasnt had a season to justify top 10 money. now that doesnt mean if he performs well this next season he wont justify/deserve it. if he does, pay the man. simple as that.

How about a ballpark figure? 5? 20?

:star: This would be perfect, especially if we could pull of the DeAngelo Hall trade and draft Ray Rice from Rutgers with our other first round draft pick. A top tier WR, top tier CB and a young back up RB with what appears to be tremendous upside. Just what the Dr. ordered, in my opinion.:)

Lets see: Toast Deangelo, who is NOT an elite CB; Ray Rice who has some serious questions about him; only Roy has proven himself as an elite WR.

For two years Roy had Harrington as his QB. Kind of hard to do much with that.

Why would the Saints be interested? They have Colston and invested a first rounder on Meachem last year. You'd think they'd have bigger needs, no?

Cause Meachem showed out of shape and did zilch last year.

But at that point youre going into the trade without the contigency of a contract. That makes it a 1 year rental which is really really bad.

Yeah, despite their struggles, I don't even think Meachem was activated.

Not a great start to his career.

One thing which has me a bit concerned, I don't see the Cowboys listed as an interested team for Roy Williams, but I have seen rumors that thy're interested in Javon 'damaged goods' Walker.

I fail to see the logic if those reports are indeed accurate.

I would hope that they're not.

For the draft pick needed, you would have to give him an extension.

Could the prospect of playing 'home' for the Cowboys give the team an advantage and a hometown discount?

Possibly.

It just did in the case of Zach Thomas.

Well the reports from the Lions are that they are shopping McDonald and that RW is not available. Its all over the place.

Good luck Matt Millen.

In my opinion, the only guy who might be interested would be Martz in receiver-starved San Francisco.

Let him stubbornly sit on Williams this year.

Then the Cowboys could sign him in 2009 for no compensation.

Seems like typical Millen reasoning - none.
