Who wants to play for the Nets? If you want to play in half empty buildings you would go to LA and play for the Clippers, at least the weathers nice.

They're moving to brooklyn, where it's a crime that a professional basketball team doesnt' already exist... since it's like one of the main points in the history of the basketball universe.

I see. So because he is not a fan of teams that YOU should think he be a fan of, he isn't a "real" fan. But a frontrunner. Answer this one for me. How do you feel about all the Cowboy fans in the DC area than? Many of them grew up around my age (25) as Cowboy fans because they won in the 90s. Are they front runner fans?
Yes you were a front runner. You chose to like the cowboys because they were winning and that made you feel good about yourself. Now, maybe you were still a cowboys fan when things went south. But I still think it's embarrassing to like a team because they were good when you first started watching football. I understand why people in Texas and surrounding areas like the cowboys. Or why someone might like them because their dad does. But I can't understand liking a team just because they are good.

Its asking a lot for a kid to root for the Cardinals in the 90's.

Im a little young for the glory days, but Id be drawn in too.

What made you decide to root for the Commanders ??????

A bandwagon fan is someone who switches teams based on performance.

As long as you stick with them your fine

LeBron is such a frontrunner. He's a Cowboys and Yankees fan when he's from Ohio. It's his right but that's kinda lame. Flame me.

Either the citizens of Cleveland will get over it, or they won't. He wore a Yankees hat against the Indians too. Just because he wears the jersey for on team in the city doesn't mean he has to love all the teams. If I remember right TO had on a Kobe jersey some time back. I don't remember anyone making a huge deal that it wasn't a Mavs jersey.

Actually, he wore a Heat jersey during the finals.

It was just a passing mention, nobody really cared.

There's a difference between a bandwagoner and a frontrunner. The bandwagoner will change teams at the drop of a hat. At least LeBron seems loyal to the teams he selected as a kid. He's a frontrunner but not a bandwagoner.

I just think in general you should cheer for the local teams, and if you cheer for two of the three of the four local teams, but in another sport you like somebody else that's cool.

It's not like the Indians were trash when he grew up. They were damn good and barely came up short several times. I thought it was pretty disrespectful of him to go to a Yankees/Indians postseason game with a Yankees hat in the city he plays in sitting with fans who presumably pay his salary. Regular season game? Sure. Postseason game, different story. If he was originally from anywhere else then it's fine, but he's from Ohio. It just looks bad.

I grew up in Nashville. I'm 23 now. My baseball team is the Phillies because that was the first team I saw on TV. All my friends growing up cheered for Atlanta because they were relatively close and very successful. I never once thought about changing. Because I didn't take the easy way out and become a frontrunner(and it wouldn't have been unreasonable to do) if I ever see a WS title, it'll mean a helluva lot more to me than the one they got.

I remember a time when there was no team here and my NFL team was the Miami Dolphins because they were on one of the four or five teams that were on TV all the time(others being Dallas, SF,GB, and Pittsburgh) and for whatever reason I was more drawn in by them than those other teams.

All that changed when Nashville got its own team. I can't imagine not cheering for the hometown team. I think you should cheer for the team from where you're originally from. They represent your town and all it stands for. I don't have a problem with people who cheer for the Cowboys, Bucs or Bears in my hometown because those teams don't matter to the Titans. However I absolutely despise people who cheer for the Colts if they are from Nashville. I hate these people simply because they're doing it to be complete *******s. I know this because there are no Texans or Jaguars fans around here.

LeBron grew up close enough to Cleveland that he should cheer for at least one of the hometown teams. If not, then at least be a little goofy and pick some random team in one sport that isn't at the top of the sport. But Bulls, Yankees and Cowboys in Northern Ohio? Seems like he wanted to be the cool kid. Kinda lame.

Kentucky doesn't have an NFL team, cheer for whoever the hell you want. You're missing my point.

I'm not missing your point at all.

FACT: you don't know LeBron James

FACT: he can be a fan of whoever he wants

FACT: you lose!

It's not a discussion of facts or a question of winning and losing a debate. It's a matter of opinion. I have an opinion, and some people agree with it. You have a different one and some people agree with that too. There's nothing wrong with good discussion and it's always enlightening to hear what other people think when they do so intelligently. Nobody is right or wrong when discussing opinions.

I understand where you and everyone else is coming from. however, it's still a fact that no one on this board knows LeBron James, and it's still a fact that Lebron James can be a fan of whoever he wants. there's really no argument...AT ALL.

I think just because he from Cleveland doesn't mean he has to like the home town team. Now if he was to show up to a playoff game this year with a red sox jersey on then you can call him front runner or bandwagon or what ever. It does matter where you grow up you like who you like and you will stick with that team if you really like them. I hate at least 95% of the teams in my area and the ones I don't hate are just tolerable. But hey I grew up in NJ and I'm a Cowboys Bulls and Mariners fan and I also like the U in college football and Maryland in college basketball I guess I'm a front runner.

I'm from Cleveland and I love the cowboys. I like the Indians but generally none of the other sports interest me like football. Anyways, when I was growing up (in the 90s) Dallas seemed to be on every week so it was just natural for me to become a dallas fan. I agree with whoever said that as long as you stick with the team that you choose and don't keep jumping from team to team then who cares.

Sounds to me like he just grew up a front runner, rooting for whatever team was good (Bulls, Cowboys, Yankees) instead of developing any allegences of his own. It doesn't have anything to do with him not liking his home town more than he enjoyed cheering for winners growing up.

People develop their allegiances in many different ways. Who is to say his way of developing an allegiance is wrong? Some people don't have any allegiance to Pac-man, no matter how good he is for the Cowboys, because they have moral issues with him.
