Lebron James

Your wrong and you need to look at the other side of the coin..If he wins a championship this year OR next year then he'll want to build an empire and put Cleveland on the map as an NBA team like Jordan did with Chicago. WHen you think of the Bulls..you think of Jordan..LeBron will want that same effect..only with the Cavs. Plus the Cavs are going and have the right, to top any offer. Thanks to the Larry Bird rule

You don't even know what the Bird Rule is or the terms of Lebron's contract and you want to tell me I'm wrong on a hypothetical that hasn't taken place yet.

Lebron has a player option in 2010 and is not a restricted free agent, the Bird Rule has nothing to do with "having the right to top" anything.

You have no idea what he "will want", so let's just relax there, skippy.

How do I not know the Larry Bird Rule? They can top any offer and not have it exceed their salary cap. They are going to offer an insane amount of money to him..hence:Top any offer.

It WILL exceed their cap, it's not an exemption from putting money towards your cap, it just means you can exceed. You claimed they had a "right to top" when no such thing is true.

Lebron can go wherever he wants, the Cavs don't have any rights to him if he exercises the option.

Ok well I'm just thinking that they won't care if it causes a luxury tax or not and will make a point to throw money at LeBron. It's a moot point anyways because Cleveland will show him love and money. I'm wondering what the contract will be. Rashard Lewis got like 7yrs/119 mil..should be interesting.

I would bet that Lebron's next deal will be something close to 6 years for $180 million and he'll be able to opt out of the contract after 4 years and hit the market again if he wants.

I hope your right on the second thing, but I doubt it.

The FIRST thing, the "he's a goner" is already written in stone. So I'll enjoy that Whopper with extra-mayo ON YOU for that one.

The SECOND, that Cleveland won't get into the finals, is a calculated guess. They got LeBron, but Boston and Orlando bring a lot of game "all around' that I don't think that LeBron alone can overcome. I see LeBron James stuck in the "early Micheal Jordan in Chicago" thing, even now. Not enough support to pull it off.

We'll see................

on the second, i think the thing that helps them immensly over the early bulls years is that

1)they are a dominant home team, like all time great

2)a lot of their players, including lebron, have experience getting to the finals.

i think your point would be more precise if we talked about a finals matchup with the lakers

he will get a max deal, not sure what that will be in a year, i hear since the salary cap is getting smaller because of the economy that he would actually be better off signing an extension this year

I just saw that live, still cracking up, I had to watch it three times.

*sighh...Well another 10+ points victory for LeBron and the Cavs..it's getting digusting folks..

I'll be in Cleveland on Memorial Day weekend visiting relatives, but the schedule doesn't look like it will allow me to see him in the ECF that weekend. I was hoping to catch a game there.

You don't have to convince me the draft is fixed. :(

If it was fixed Boston not San Antonio would have got Duncan you know David Stern probably cried himself to sleep that night. Duncan would have revitalized the Boston Celtics and made the NBA more money since Boston would have been in the plyoffs every year.

thats why i said im pretty sure the NBA owed the spurs somethign from the merger, because we have won the lottery two out of two times we were in it.

These sweeps must be pissing off the NBA brass though, Lebron is on and off TV in 4 games per series and doesn't even break a sweat, there's zero drama and no extended series means less money.

but the flip side to that is that they are assured lebron goes deeper into the playoffs, therefore keeping his hype going. ultimately they wanted him to get to the conference finals to face the celtics. if they were to sweep the celtics or the lakers/nuggets, then i think the nba would be more concerned

I'll go on record now saying if they face the Celtics, it won't be a sweep. The Celtics are not the Hawks.

Outside of Joe Johnson, the Hawks have no one respectable other than Horford, and he's hurt.

ya, the celtics, always play up/down to their competition, it would probably go 6, with the cavs eventually winning

Just puttin this out there...Cavs will go 16-0 in the playoffs. They cannot be stopped and are dominating every team that they are supposed to dominate. I just don't see them losing.

doubt that. they will lose eventually. they will probably lose 1 or 2 in Boston.

Care to place a little wager on that?
