Let's get this Jerry thing right out in the open

If you've never seen it, do so at your earliest opportunity... it was on one of the movie channels a week or so back, and the nephew was watching it, so I sat down and watched it too... it's a B movie all the way, but really, really funny...

Total B movie but not too bad...some funny scenes and a few disturbing scenes (the old woman and young guy).

Dante: Looking back, the lion was a bad idea. That's why Dr. Shockla is gonna hook us up with a monkey. I'm gonna teach it taekwondo.
Barry: Yeah, karate monkey, yeah, that's probably safer.

I didn't read the whole thread, but where was this alleged?? I thought this thread was talking about all things Jerry... Jerry has his hand in everything, Jerry forced players on Bill, yada yada yada.

Everyone knows BILL didn't have complete control. Jerry would never give that up. But the joint decision stuff is really what seemed to be going on... see Marcus Coleman, Jason Ferguson, Richie Anderson, Vinny, both Glenns, etc.

I think that even though BP had alot of control there were players that Jerry was so high on even BP couldnt say no....I.E. Jones, Wiley, George, Thomas, and Price...but if you notice all of those players were not focal points..or let me put it this way...they were not as much as they could have been...TO included....

I call out those who are looking to cause trouble... those who come in here to talk football, seriously and respectfully, have little to fear from this ol' Bear...

IOW, every post is NOT the same-- some of them are ad hominem attacks, some of them are lame folksy jokes...

And of course, it's a comical bit of exaggeration to say that EVERY post falls into one of those two categories; I'm also pretty well known among the oldtimers in here for my free agent and draft analyses...

How sad for you that I'm nowhere NEAR done...

LOL... it ain't my fault if I write well, if I'm articulate and educated... indeed, rather than "lord it over" guys like you, I try to "dumb down" my writing, throwing in words like "ain't", "gonna" and "kinda"...

Nope, it seems you guys are threatened by said intelligence, and often make an issue of it... which prompts factual rebuttal, in the form of things like my GPA, IQ scores and SAT scores, all of which are tangible proof of that intelligence...

If you guys didn't try to disparage that intelligence, if YOU didn't bring it up all the time, I'd never say a word on the subject... I'm content to let my posts stand as a record of what intelligence I may or may not have...

And I'm content to be judged on my combative nature, since that nature is almost always aimed at folks who are borderline sociopaths...

I'm to be pitied, yet you're the one WHINING...

And what sweet music it is to these old ears... :lmao2:

Seriously, this is one of the lamest posts I have ever read in my life. There is no way that anyone could actually like you in real life.

That was the one that broke me up the most, I think... Shirley Jones, who played the goody two shoes mama on the Partridge Family, as a horny old gal... I mean, a REALLY horny old gal... it was funnier still because my late Mom's name was Grace, too...

Dante: Looking back, the lion was a bad idea. That's why Dr. Shockla is gonna hook us up with a monkey. I'm gonna teach it taekwondo.
Barry: Yeah, karate monkey, yeah, that's probably safer.

Got to love Dante...

For those out of the loop on this one, the movie in question is "Grandma's Boy"... the gay Vegan waiter name of Shiloh, was played by David Spade...

Obviously it's the beginning of the down time season. What's next?

What is it that keeps those socks up after every play?

I get things done in my own personal life and am able to see things from a real perspective because even though I am a fan I dont like to make things look better than they are...You cant fix them unless you see what is really going on....hey we were a 9-7 team last year that lost in the 1st round...what did we do this offseason? We picked up Davis and he will help but right now thats all we did...everyone is so pumped up but where is the improvement coming from? a year of practice for Tony...thats good but it could be bad without parcells.. Tony could stay off the reservation without BP, we dont know. He is more apt to truthfully take too many chances. So that could happen. Al Singleton will be gone so we lose some depth. Same with Coleman who had 4 sacks last year. Now the young guys should get better so that will help but it all may just offset itself if we have some injuries at key positions. We may be sitting here next year right where we are at right now at 9-7.
"We may be sitting here next year right where we are at right now at 9-7."

Man , it hurts my head just to try and say that.

I love that movie. I totally shocked at how funny it was. The guy that slept with the old bag stole the show in that one IMO. Check out the extra stuff on the DVD...when that guy starts telling of his experience with the "***** from the great depression," I almost sharted.

The thing is, if you take a look at the folks who despise me, it's almost always the ones held in general scorn by the rest of the board...

As I've said over and over and over again, I wear the contempt of the likes of you, an individual for whom I have zero respect, as a badge of honor... I'd be ashamed if you DIDN'T have a problem with me...

If the old cliche is true, that a man is known by his enemies, I must be one heckuva guy... :D

Like I said, I didn't think I'd like it, when I sat down to watch it... but my nephew almost never gets control of the remote (hey, it's MY house, LOL), and I figured what the heck, let him watch what he wants to watch...

I liked it so much I stayed up until it came on the west feed, so that I could see the little bit I missed at the start the first time around... the only jarring spot in it for me was the role Kevin Nehlen (sp?) played in it, he just wasn't funny... then again, I never have found him particularly funny... I generally don't care that much for David Spade either, but he DESTROYED me with that cameo as the gay Vegan waiter, Shiloh...

This board is rife with Jerry apologists and enablers. You're surprised that fellow sheep got your back? Puh-lease.

If the old cliche is true, that a man is known by his enemies, I must be one heckuva guy

By that standard, I must be one heckuva guy.

spoken like someone who knows what he is talking about...seriously to the other guys...i really want to discuss this...have been a fan for 30 years too...i love the team...i dont like what jerry has done...am I hopeful he learned a few things from parcells...Yes...will it happen...i dont know...let's go ahead and look at jerry's history...you guys that want to call me a troll are either under 16 years old and dont know what he has done, have only been a fan for a few years...or just truthfully know he hasnt done a good job, are too much of a homer and cant see it...or just dont care...

I mean Jerry made like 50 mistakes after Jimmy Johnson, there are so many I cant name them all but here are the highlights. Can anyone really defend them with a sane mind?

Trades two draft picks for Joey Galloway. One of them turns out to be the MVP of the league. Since Jerry didnt anticipate getting a true replacement for Troy, Galloway becomes of no value!

Quincy Carter - not only does jerry want this guy, he reaches for him in the 2nd round! This guy was terrible....It took Big Bill to get anything out of him...the fact that we reached the playoffs with him and Hambrick tells the whole story about how good BP was.....

Jerry reaches for Tony Dixon in that same draft...I think we could have gotten Kendrell Bell instead of Quincy and a few other big names instead of dixon...by the way...dixon...out of the league along with Quincy...he was terrible...

Jerry chooses Ekuban and Carver in the 1st round...both of them were terrible....enough said on that...

I think when Bill got here we only had like two 1st round picks on our team that were still in the league from the previous 10 years...what does that tell you?

What about him getting, and this was verified:

Eddie George
Anthony Thomas
Peerless Price
M. Wiley

all washed up players....

and now what has he done this year?

Gave 18 mill up front to a player that is overrated....the most ever by the way
Gave 10 mill to a one year wonder that we dont know about...lazy in the past
Gave a washed up QB 3.5 up front...
Says we have a FS on the team to go to? come on man just go and get one...why wont they do it? Roy cant cover...also what about jerry giving roy 11 mill last year and he went lazier on us? bradie james...used to be my boy...all that money...both of them cant cover...too big to cover...whatever...

jerry did go smart on one deal...columbo...thats it..the old jerry would have gave him 5 years 20 million....
I agree with most of what your saying, but I'm not on board with all the praise to Parcells.Eddie George,Peerless Price,Marcellus Wiley, and Anthony Thomas were all brought in on Parcells watch. If we're going to give Parcells all the credit for the talent that has worked here on his watch, then he needs to get the blame for what didn't work.Just remember, for everyone that thinks dallas has talent right now on defense,it was Parcells defensive scheme that didn't put players in position to make plays. If this defense plays good under Phillips scheme this year, then we'll know that it was Parcells crappy scheme. If they continue to struggle, then we will have to question Parcells talent evaluation.I guess what I'm saying is I don't disagree with what your saying about Jones, but quit making Parcells out to be such a genius.

Let's find out who knows football and who is a homer! BleuStar-homer

The hate for jones as a GM goes like this....for 10 years he put our team in such a disarray, it took parcells 4 years just to get us out of it! and we are still not there! what did jones do? he only overpaid for one of the biggest busts in recent history...he overpaid for a one year wonder in gurode...he overpaid for brad johnson...who is finished...all jerry does is overpay...he overpaid for rivera,,he was done...he overpaid for henry in my opinion. He hasnt done much but be injured. He overpaid for Roy Williams and now we couldnt get rid of him if we tried! He brought in a player that ran out Parcells! The question is what has he done that has been smart in the last 10 years....and dont get me started on the drafts the last 10 years before parcells got here. Dont get me started on the Galloway trade! Come on man I cant even believe you just made that statement bleustar!?????????????? Do you know anything about football?

So this is what I will say about Jerry. The two things he does consistently.

He latches onto a player, or a theory about a player and nothing gets in his way to stop him from getting him. I.E. Quincy Carter, Tony Dixon. Carver, Ekuban....should I stop now?

He also overpays for mediocre players. Those are the two things he does consistently. If that wins a championship then so be it! LOL....it never will. Bleu Star you need to take out what Bill has done the past 4 years and then look at our team. Dont look at what BP did in talent acquistions and mix it in with the stupid mistakes Jerry has made and say that Jerry is a God.....what a joke...I mean look at all the mistakes Jerry made the past 4 years....Wiley, Price, Anthony Thomas, TO...the list goes on. The thing about it is this. Almost everything that Jerry does individually from a GM standpoint with no help he screws up. You need to face that. He wants to know what to do but he just doesnt and that's the truth. I wish it wasnt so but it is. The only thing he has done right in the past 4 years is hire Parcells and semi-get out of the way.

You gotta be kidding me.
I would not trade Jerra for another owner. No owner comes close to him.
Jerra, for his faults -- he who is without faults, you know -- is proactive and truly excited about Cowboys football. He eats and sleeps Cowboys. Big pluses.
You won't find much agreement with your thesis that jerra is a bad owner.

Having said that, to the self-appointed arbiters of what posts are worthy or not worthy, get a life. Last i check this post had more than 270 replies.

No its more like your running around with your pants down screaming, "look at me, look at me!!" Only to get mad when SB tells you to pull your pants up.
