There's only one problem: rap isn't "new." Even in my 20s I knew it was crap, so there's nothing "generational" about the animus.

I have a Sociology degree, and I can tell you Ray Lewis may actually be right. Many things can cause crime rates to go up. The most famous sociological example is more crime tends to happen in the summer, because it is hot, which makes people more irritable, etc. I don't think it'll be a huge spike, but I agree with Ray. It could totally happen, especially among the lower socio-economic class, where football may be the only thing they have.

I respect your degree.. but there is no way you could qualify a statement like that.

You can't take crime rates and say they'll go up because of one thing. There are too many variables, different areas, etc..

Maybe the crime rate in a few cities goes up during a portion of what would be the NFL season.. its simply impossible to make a claim that it because of one thing.

What about the other cities where crime didn't go up? What about the other variables in the community and region? What about the fact that the crime rate only went up for a part of the would be NFL season and not its entirety? What about the cities where the crime rate went down or remained the same?

etc, etc..

so then what do they do during the off season? Come on enough with the cop outs, people who are going to committ crimes will do so with or without football.
