This is a list for normal teams. Doubt most, if any, of these are on Jerry’s shortlist.

Last time the runner up to McCarthy was Marvin Lewis. He wouldnt have even been on my top 50 potential ‘Rooney Rule’ interviews.
He was looking at coaches with experience. The 1st time HC's can probably be ruled out, if they do the same.

Any HC or future HC worth a grain of salt should be a hard NO, if JJ comes a knocking. Who in their right mind regardless of the money would want to take directions from Jerry Jones and his tards for sons, it would be a recipe for disaster!
I still think it is a very attractive job.

At least he came here with his dad and not Garrett, and after us spent time in the McVay and McConnell WCO. They kept him because he was considered a promising young coach.

Earlier in the year I was also thinking of Kint Kubiak because Jerry is fiends with the family and his brother scouts for us, but with the Saints falling apart he might have to wait longer for his chance.
Good point on Kubiak too. He certainly lit us up

With your success dependent so much on 4, a young oc getting his first opportunity should look elsewhere

Just my opinion, but Jerry should............
1) find out if there is any legitimacy to the Kyle Shanahan being available. If he is forget what is below because I just can't see 49s letting him go.
2) Go with Vrabel. He definitely would help the discipline problem at Dallas presently. Time for discipline and accountability again, even if he wasn't that good at motivation.
3) IF acceptable to Vrabel, go with Saleh as DC. Kubiak as OC. Saleh because his Cover 3 press came from the same place Dan Quinns D did in general, and I think the fix for the D would take less. Kubiak because of the same things said above about young and friends with the family.

Getting people back to where they know their roles and are held accountable for the results would be a nice place to start to change the culture in Dallas.

I refuse to believe Belichick took the NC job without getting feedback from the Cowboys that their head coach position would not be available. I think his decision to take that job now confirms McCarthy will stay.
These doofuses will do the same thing again and again and expect different results. In fact I think they will skip FA again and just come back status quo. They will also wait until the last minute to sign Micah. It’s what they do and they don’t give a crap about fans.

We will get to the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th rounds as well without picking a RB. They will resign Rico for 3 million and call it a day….

They will draft Oline, DE, and corner’s because that’s all they draft.

Rinse and repeat

It's hard to say because Jerry has used multiple methods for selecting a coach. He's picked three (Gailey, Campo and Garrett) who had no previous head coaching experience. I could see them going with Moore similarly to how Garrett was seen as the golden child here.
How anyone could think that Moore could command a room is beyond me….

with the f/o set-up remaing in place,unchanged...the only one on the list i'd consider over mccarthy is mike vrable.
he currently works for the browns f/o in a advisory role.
i think that job is his if he wants it.
i'd love him in dallas.
i think he'd instill some much needed steel into these spines.
a young off.minded hc would not and could not thrive here with the f/o dynamic cemented in place.
i believe mccarthy comes back on a short deal...if he wants it.
the problem here isn't with the coach.
its the gm...and the culture he has established with the owner.

With the Joneses in control it won’t matter who the next HC is. A different voice but the same results.

Just a following up post from yesterday's Zimmer possibility for the Cowboys HC Job. Here are the top candidates for next year:

(Taken by CBS Sports)

1) Ben Johnson Lions OC
2) Vrabel Former Titan HC
3) Flores Viking DC
4) Glenn Lions DC
5) Brady Bills OC
6) Kinksbury Commanders OC
7) Joseph Broncos DC
8) Slowik Texans OC
9) Cohen Tampa OC
10) Minter Chargers DC
11) Moore Eagles OC

Who is favorites top choice or choices? Vrabel, Flores or Johnson, Slowik for me.
Ben Johnson or bust. Maybe Minter Chargers DC.

That's been the key these past 30 years. The Joneses are in control.

The only somewhat reprieve that we got IMO was when they hired Parcells. Parcells was building what he wanted, but the setback in finding out if he could win with Quincy allowed him to burn out before he could get there. Parcells refocused how the Joneses viewed the draft and got to bring in his FOBs to build out his team with around the draft picks and a few "high-dollar" pickups. That doesn't mean Jerry wasn't still heavily involved (see Terrell Owens signing), just that they gave Parcells a lot of leeway that they had not given any coach since Jimmy.

What Parcells built was why Wade Phillips had so much success his first year, but Phillips was a poor disciplinarian who offered nothing as far as building a team so it quickly all fell apart.

That's the best you got when you get caught?
Get caught? Are you 5? Moore sucks. He is not a leader of men. His record against top defenses with the Cowboys was terrible. Perhaps you weren’t watching the team during the Moore OC years. At best a middling OC. At worst Jason Garrett 2.0.

The defense burned out Parcells and being too old to want to endure Romo’s growing pains. He mentioned both in an interview. Parcells was old school. He wanted to win with defense and running the ball.
