It's not plays being called. It's the design of the play. We don't design plays that get Dez in space.

Teams are using pick plays and rub routes (see Victor Cruz TD) to get guys in space.. What do we do? Nothing but dinks and dunks and throw it up to Dez.. Even with Romo.
I was just about to reference this play. Great design and flawless execution by Cruz.

It sounds like after years and years of awful play designs the media chose this year to finally call him out for it.

Several people are asking why they can't figure out a way to get Dez the ball.

I don't know why they are choosing yesterday to finally call him out for this but it looks like it will be one of the themes today.
I want the media to ask that at his next press conference right after he says "alright guys" and does the creepy robot smile.

I think the bigger issue lies with Dez. I think he has an extremely limited route tree and has poor route running and disappears FAR too often when someone other than Romo is throwing him the ball. I think Romo is good enough to figure out how to use Dez's obvious limitations and make them work.

I've seen it with TO, Miles, and a lot of others. I'm not blaming Dez.

Dez is a monster RAC receiver but yet everything we do with him is down field.

Just get the ball in his hands. That's all. Just let him catch it and he is the Adrian Peterson of Wide Receivers. He's too physical.

Look at how Denver gets Demaryius Thomas the ball.. That is what Dallas needs to do with Dez.

I'm not asking them to go full Julio or Antonio Brown and just constantly force feed him the ball but they need to get Dez in catch and run situations.

Good.

Not finding ways to get Dez into mismatches is a crime.

The slot position is calling his name.
Dez isnt really crisp enough to be a slot guy. Thats one of his weakness. What we need is an inside/outside guy opposite him like a Lockett or a Diggs

I think your over estimating Dez's abilty to break tackles. Does he really seem like he's gonna be the type of guy that is gonna sacrifice his body to get that extra tough yard? He just got paid...and he isn't gonna risk getting hurt over a few extra yards.

Dez is not the issue. I've seen Dez run many different routes throughout his career. He can and has made big plays going across the middle yet most route he runs are side line routes. He is one of the best RAC WR yet we rarely use him where he can catch on the run and go. Instead, he is put in position where he has to make a circus catch most of the time.

We didn't run one slant with him yesterday. They should have him run some of the routes Beasely runs going across the middle. This could also help Dak out. Some of the passes that went high on Beasley would have been caught by Dez yesterday.

It's almost a cop out from the coaching staff. They rely on Dez's athleticism to bail out the crappy offense. This is why our offense has bigger drop off when Romo or Dez goes down. We rely too much on the talent of key players instead of the system that helps the player succeed. We can't win without key starters yet NE wins with guys that was working at Walmart the week before.

This x500. It's not difficult. You have a guy on the field for every offensive snap who is rarely brought down by one defender. Just get the damn ball to him. Throw him a screen, a quick out, whatever. Instead, they wait until he's 25 yards downfield and he has to out jump the stadium to make a play. I don't care if he's not the fastest, but you know when he does get the ball there's a good chance we're moving the chains.

First off, as for Dez. They got the ball to him, he was just covered when the ball arrived. That said, you can't blame Dez for that as if he had been led properly, he would have had room to make the catch. DRC made some great plays on Dez, but there isn't much you can do when the CB is painted on you where the ball comes down.

Hopefully with time, the QB/WR timing will get better. The guy is still a rookie.

whatever it is it still looks a lot like last year and the results were still the same and I didn't expect any different I said this was a 8 and 8 team with a crappy coaching staff and defense and the offense without tony is in the same boat if tony misses very much we will be picking in the top ten again

Dez had 5 targets yesterday. That in it self is ridiculous. Out of the 5 targets, 3 were jump balls where he had to out jump the defender.

Anyone that thinks this isn't a fair assessment is kidding themselves.....we can't scheme to benefit our players. It's always the same old ****.....Dez you line up outside and beat your guy on the go, Bease you line up in the slot & run that 8 yd out/in/curl/slant , Witten you read the S and make the route from there

Just curious... Do you watch other teams with top wideout and how they get them the ball?

If not... Watch Pittsburgh tonight against Washington.. Washington will do everything in the world to stop him and Pittsburgh will find ways to get him the ball. They won't just throw it up to him occasionally or be satisfied with him being double covered and letting Washington take him away.

Dallas absolutely does not maximize Dez Bryants potential and i'm not blaming Dez for not bringing down the football yesterday. That is a tough play. I'm not upset about the ball moving on the way down 1 bit.

Amen, brother.

No slants. No digs. No crossing routes of any kind.

Frankly, I think Dez is a little overrated, but he's never gotten any help from his coaches.

IMO.. Dez is amazing.. But he is not worth the deal we gave him if he is just going to be a decoy for everyone else.

From 2012 to 2014 nobody scored more TD's than Dez. He's incredible.. But we've never really put him in the situation that other teams with elite WR's put their receivers in to make plays.

Look at Dez's kick and punt return ability.. The guy is a monster once he has the ball in his hands. Just get him the ball.
