Come on Float.. It's September man.. Football season. No need to troll ;)

I'm serious.

The guy is coming off a serious foot injury...and you think he's gonna fight for extra yards? How pissed would you be if he reinjured that foot trying to gain a couple more yards off a bubble screen?

Guy has got to know what battles to choose.

Go watch any of Dez's catches going across the middle or when they get him the ball quick on the run. He gets big chunks of yards on those catches most if not all the time. Half of his targets should be these type of routes. Beasley runs most of these currently. We need to have Dez run some of these and get Butler to run the routes Dez is running currently.

It sounds like after years and years of awful play designs the media chose this year to finally call him out for it.

Several people are asking why they can't figure out a way to get Dez the ball.

I don't know why they are choosing yesterday to finally call him out for this but it looks like it will be one of the themes today.

Yeah I think George Dunham has been on to JG for years while others apologized for him but sounds like they are all starting to see the .500 light.

Has it ever occurred to you that yes, you can scheme players open?

If it is all on him, boy did we make a huge mistake when he signed his extension.
Some people need someone to blame and surface level thinking leads them to blame Dez Bryant.
Actually understanding that the defense is rolling coverage to Dez while he lines up in the same spot every play requires actual thinking. It's easier to blame Dez than understand why he isn't open and understand how he is creating one on ones for other players that have not been able to exploit these match ups.

Just curious... Do you watch other teams with top wideout and how they get them the ball?

If not... Watch Pittsburgh tonight against Washington.. Washington will do everything in the world to stop him and Pittsburgh will find ways to get him the ball. They won't just throw it up to him occasionally or be satisfied with him being double covered and letting Washington take him away.

Dallas absolutely does not maximize Dez Bryants potential and i'm not blaming Dez for not bringing down the football yesterday. That is a tough play. I'm not upset about the ball moving on the way down 1 bit.

Good luck getting some of these Dez haters to understand the game enough to see why he isn't getting the ball. They just see stat sheets and think Dez suddenly can't run basic routes and he is being taken out of the games by single players.

The guy is fierce with the ball. It's up to JG to scheme him the ball. Move him around, end arounds, slot screens.....and it wouldn't hurt if T Will took advantage of the single coverage he is getting once in a while.

It's easier for some to bash the best weapon we have than understand the game.

Dez doesnt get a ton of separation. His game is making contested catches, being physical. I'm not sure what scheme gets him wide open, I mean the other guys are paid too. He had a couple of opportunities to make an impact yesterday, a couple of plays that elite wr make, and he didn't make them. More often than not, he does.

To me the whole problem stems from the offensive scheme being reactive instead of innovative. Watch, either JG will read how simple his offensive is or Jerry will demand some change and they'll unveil some Dez slot formation or bubble screen. For the run game they'll run the zone/read option or the jet sweep. Then they'll just revert back to the original offense for the next week. JG is conservative by nature. Why get wacky when you can jam the running plays into a brick wall 45 times a game?

Romo is not doing anything different nor do I believe that Dez has limitations. We do not exploit 1 on 1 opportunities with Dez. I noticed on 1st and 10 teams stack the box because 99% of the time we're running the ball.
Dallas wins by 10-14 points with Romo driving this offense yesterday.
Nothing at all against Dak, but that's how I feel.

They would have maneuvered the defense to where the run game improved and the intermediate to deeper routes opened up some.
5 yards per attempt won't work.

He had maybe one where he could have made a uncontested catch. This sums it up pretty well:

I get where you're coming from, but contested catches is how he made his money, he has to come down with them. He's not a guy who's got a ton of speed, not a great route runner, etc... I don't know that he's going to get a lot of opportunities, no matter how the play is drawn up to have a chance at an uncontested catch.

Maybe contested catch is not the right phrase--we know he can make a catch when covered. In his opportunities yesterday, however, he was doubled or in a position where he didn't really have a chance. We really need to get more creative with him.

I get what you're saying. I guess I need to quit comparing him to the elite guys like Jones and Green, who don't seem to struggle with beating double coverage. Hell, Green sunk Revis Island yesterday, he was 10-10 against who a lot of people consider to be the best CB in football.

Firstly, I'm sure we can all agree that the pass protection was solid. Dak had a lot of time back there for the most part. With that being said, it was another game where the deep ball was non-existent. We just don't stretch the field. The D doesn't fear getting beat over the top so they have one less thing to worry about. Realize it's only a small sample size but I like Butler and like what he brings to the table. Unfortunately, the only items allowed @ the table are safe, bland & basic items. Just gets frustrating watching a team who is playing not to lose rather than playing to win regardless of who is on the field.

How do people know what play was called? The QB has options. It's presumptuous for people to think that plays were not called for Dez. The Giants aren't stupid and Dak is smart.
Maybe.

Do teams not focus on AJ Green?

We play a 50/50 brand of football. Even with Dez it's a 50/50 type of scheme to get him in the endzone. Just throw it up.

2014 was all about imposing our will with the run game and Romo making spectacular plays on 3rd down and in the red zone. I give Garrett no credit for how he coached in 2014. They just imposed their will.. It's 50/50 football in the salary cap era.

If it was 1992 we could just buy every good player and be as bland as we want..

2016 there is parity and we need coaching.

Bill Bellichick schemes guys open and if our WR's were Hogan, Amendola, and Edelman we would have no hope offensively but the Pats, with their backup QB, just find ways to get guys open.

Dez isnt really crisp enough to be a slot guy. Thats one of his weakness. What we need is an inside/outside guy opposite him like a Lockett or a Diggs
Anyone can run a slant route from the slot. Even uncrispy Dez.
