Looking Like McFadden Will Be The Starter

anf

And what did Murray ever do without a fully loaded line? Nada. 1000 yards? Please......

He put up a franchise record 253 yards 4 years ago. He also put up over 1100 yards in 2013 behind an OL that Randle averaged only 3.0 behind. The only thing that held Murray back was injuries he made plays behind every OL the Cowboys had since 2011.

How do you know? The season hasn't even started yet.

Sorry, I had to. :p

I know based on Philly's offense and the signing of Mathews. Kelly knows Murray would never hold up to that amount of carries in back to back seasons. :)

Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, Matthews could get injured at some point, Murray could get hot and therefore get the vast majority of carries, etc.

Right! It's a silly argument but apparently selective history has shown that some rbs show decline following such a great year from scrimmage. Forget about the ones that didn't decline or did even better the following year. They don't fit the agenda.

Demarco will gain no less than 1500 yards on the ground this year. Bookmark this.

If Murray stays healthy I say he gains no more than 1350 yards.

1300 to 1500 but I think the hatred of some is clouding their judgment of his potential behind a Philly line that is pretty darned good itself.

That could happen but even Murray receiving the majority of the carries won't come close to the 392 he had in Dallas. If Mathews goes down they can ill afford to lose Murray who has an injury history so they'll rotate him with their 3rd back.

What's clouding the judgment of some is Murray no longer being here and believing his success was mostly due to the OL.

Everyone felt like Jones was a reach.

I hadn't even heard of the guy and I looked at RBs all offseason.

I've never heard of him either....but I also never heard of Chas Green and everyone said he was a reach....it's very possible that we made the wrong reach isn't it?

That is true, possibly if he was still playing in Dallas there's a chance he could reach that number again, but highly doubtful in Philly I think. They also have Sproles, which I keep forgetting about.

It's funny how people forget that we wanted him bad enough to offer him 6.5 million per year...also Romo made a passionate plea to keep Murray. Don't forget Dez's reaction also...

People actually have convinced themselves that Murray was Trent Richardson just with this amazing line..

Let's see how we all feel about the line after a year of McFadden running up the backs of them.

Murray playing in Philly along with Mathews and Sproles is why I don't think he'll come close to 392 carries. McCoy never had more than 315 carries under Kelly and they didn't have a Ryan Mathews.

I think his success was 1/3 Oline, 1/3 TRomo passing game, 1/3 Murray. Just my opinion. He'll be "successful" (which means over 1100 yards) in Phili if they have a successful passing game. Murray will be a big part of their passing game too. He's an excellent receiver.

Was there a reason we did not look at Matthews? I know the Eagles got a verbal commitment before the Murray deal, but Matthews took a 2nd look after the Eagles signed Murray. Wonder if our front office considered making an offer?

I will wait until the preseason games are over until I make my final judgement but at least now he looks the same as in Oakland. Run to the line, stammer around looking for a hole, then going down like a sack of hammers.

So, behind an o-line perhaps even worse than Oakland's last year, McFadden looks the same? Shocking, ha ha. Can we at least reserve judgment until he sees the same 0-line and pass threat Demarco benefited from?

I thought he was 2 rounds too early. A good brute back but poor vision and ball security. I though he was an inferior prospect to Cobb, Allen and Davis

Probably cost. We had some interest in both Spiller and Bush, but both wound up priced out of our range

Too expensive. This FO decided the OL was 100% responsible for the run game. So they thought they could just bump up his backups and sign some declining RB on the cheap and save money.

Just a plain baffling decision seeing how far they have came over the years.

I agree that after Murray was pretty much not coming back, Matthews was right there to get. But we didn't want to spend any type of money at the RB position.

Im not sure the team wouldnt have spent 11.5 million over 3 years.
