Looking Like McFadden Will Be The Starter

Oh, they have a backup plan? What is it?

Their plan is to do exactly what they are doing. Roll with the running backs they have. If something better becomes available at a cost they are willing to pay they may go after him. It's not that complicated.

Your thinking is clouded simply because you don't like the plan.

McFadden can barely get on the field. No way he can take the grind of an NFL season. If he's named the starter, he'll break down by week 4, & Randle will take over. I would still like to see more of Hill & Johnson. Man, there has to be a better option than we've seen so far.

Hill looked decent but the way he wiffed on the block, had me shaking my head. PS maybe

That sounds like a pretty weak plan to me. Roll with a guy who has played one full season since 2008 and averaged 3.2 yards per carry the last 3 seasons and a guy who struggles in pass protection and stealing underwear. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

People actually have convinced themselves that Murray was Trent Richardson just with this amazing line..

They'll be getting the closest thing to Trent Richardson with McFadden who's 3.3 rushing average the past 3 seasons is the lowest in the league over that period for a back not named Trent Richardson.

I still like McFadden and Randle... I'll sit here all by myself on this island for a few more weeks.

Your not alone brother, I agree with you. We don't have to have one guy gain 1,800 yards for this team to be great. Several SB teams of recent past has proven this to be true. And yes, our OL had a lot to do with that even though some here like to discount that. Just like some here think Murray was Adrian Petersons equal. Smh. I totally get the concern bc it's a change from what we had last year, but the Cowboys did the right thing by not over paying for a older RB that had trouble staying healthy and fumbling. Everybody here I'm sure appreciates what Murray did and was, but the Boys are making better decisions now.. I'm just glad the FO didn't asked some here for thier input. Are Randle and McFadden our best options? Who knows until we see them in a real game. The same questions were being thrown around when Murray was here too.

I'll also add that Murray won't even duplicate what he did last year either.

I don't remember Murray staying healthy for long periods before last year.

Seriously?
How about 5.5 YPC in 2011 behind a garbage line. And 5.2 YPC in 2013...
I guess that is nothing. Murray didn't suddenly learn how to run last year. The guy has been very efficient his entire career.

Yards per carry was nice and he certainly didnt get much of a chance with Garrett calling the plays. But the fact remains that he could barely handle the load he was given the first 3 years getting hurt every time. Efficient is a nice way to put it. But I dont believe in paying efficient backs stud money.

I think his success was 1/3 Oline, 1/3 TRomo passing game, 1/3 Murray. Just my opinion. He'll be "successful" (which means over 1100 yards) in Phili if they have a successful passing game. Murray will be a big part of their passing game too. He's an excellent receiver.

The passing success (efficiency) was due to the running game. Romo had career and league highs in passer rating and completion percentage in 2014 all due to a very effective running game. We didn't see a lot of third and longs we saw a lot of manageable 3rd downs in which the Cowboys were able to run the ball a number of times to move the chains. In Saturday's preseason game all we saw 3rd and longs which led to a number of punts and at least one int. On Romo's only series McFadden's first carry was for 1 yard and his second carry was for -1 which led to a 3rd and 10 which Romo couldn't convert. Romo's efficiency will go way down this season if all McFadden does is run up the backs of his OL and can't make anyone miss and Randle needs huge lanes to make plays.

Regardless, you still want to see them make more plays than what we saw yesterday. SF has lost half their defense and were still making plays last night.

Look, I am NOT a McFaddenn fan by any stretch. But I am also NOT a huge Murray fan for 8 million for 5 seasons. McFadden had zero running lanes with the 4 carries he got. Go back and watch the tape. The ONLY way this RB thing works close to last year is if the line continues to blow open big holes. If they dont, all bets are off. But if they dont, Murray wouldnt have had the same success either.

How do you know the season hasn't even started yet? Besides he won't get as many carries to do what he did again.

Exactly. He wont get as many carries and even if he did, chances are that he would not last the entire season.

He put up a franchise record 253 yards 4 years ago. He also put up over 1100 yards in 2013 behind an OL that Randle averaged only 3.0 behind. The only thing that held Murray back was injuries he made plays behind every OL the Cowboys had since 2011.

Big whoop. Nothing there to pay a guy top dollar for. And no, the Cowboys Oline once they drafted Frederick was quality. The two things that held Murray back was injuries and Garrett.

Judging McFadden or any RB on 2 carries is ridiculous.

If you don't get it blocked it's doubtful any RB would gain a yard
