I guess renting planes to fly over games crying about this doesn't matter. I guess Mack spouting off during the OU-OSU game all the meanwhile Stoops has "no comment" doesn't matter either. Both sides would complain-period.

Whine about your team but attacking the other team that got in is ridiculous and its obvious you wont stop.

Lots of things are obvious. They just don't always mean anything, such as 45-35. I haven't said a thing about this since OU was named. However, I am saying that this article does not support the decision to send OU. It explains why the Big12 has the rules it currently has in place. That can not be disputed. I have seen Stoops campaign for his team with the best of em for years. You take issue with Mack being interviewed during an OU game? Don't know what to tell ya. Don't watch inteviews.

The Big12 is changing the rule. They wouldn't be doing that if they didn't think something had not gone wrong. That is a point you can not get around.

Kind of hard to not watch an interview when it was audio-overlayed during the game.

It's already been decided. Texas and OU have the same record Texas beat OU heads up therefore Texas should in the championship game.

And that's exactly what would have happened... if it had not been a THREE WAY TIE!

That's something the Texas fans continue to conveniently ignore.

You can't use "head-to-head" when there are more than two heads involved.

I agree with this position. I think it's BS for fans to pretend that Texas is just complaining over Sour Grapes but that's just me. As all of us know, nobody cries louder or longer then OU when they think they are being treated unfairly. It is what it is but to me, the rule needs to be changed. People in other parts of the country, probably many who don't even follow Big12 football very closely don't need to be making decisions on who should represent the Big12. It should be decided on the field, as often as possible.

All Texas fans do is cry as well. OU kinda has a reason due to some past obvious national screwjobs starting in Lubbock '05/Oregon '06.

Nobody deserves that, not even Oklahoma.

Longhorn fans cry and cry and cry, and most of the time it is because of their own doings.

Mack is the biggest crybaby in the world. Stoops is defensive and to the point.

I don't care for either one, but Texas is as bad or worse when it comes to crying. They are gonna cry about this all the way up 'till next October's meeting between the two. Next year's RRR is gonna be the best of the decade. Get ur popcorn ready.

Heh...it's because of posts like this one as to why I thought you weren't a Longhorns fan. ;)

Folks,

FTR, regarding the Mack Brown interview during halftime between OU/OSU, Mack knew what his team was up against if the scenario played out in the manner which it did. Hell, half the country knew the very same thing just based on what ESPN kept repeating. Mainly, UT would be on the outside looking in if Tech and OU won their respective games last Saturday. This was common knowledge to EVERYONE before last week's games even kicked off. You can't really blame him for refusing to go down without a fight, can you? He had to do SOMETHING - he owed it to his team to speak up for them because there was just too much riding on the human voters and computers when it was time to determine who stays and who goes home. Stoops can play the "holier than thou" card for refusing to do any interviews, but you don't think he knew he was holding a better hand than Texas going into the matchup against OSU? Of course he knew.

:hammer:

They have to change it because if they don't it diminishes their conferences biggest game.

That's right. We are and with good reason. Just please, if your an OU fan, don't act like Stoops doesn't cry with the best of em and don't tell me we don't have a right to cry about this till the Cows come home.

It's gonna happen and it's gonna happen every time it comes up. The best team is not going to Kansas City. That's unfortunate. Nothing I can do about it now, cept cry.

Everything was fine in your reply until you post that the best isn't going. At least real Longhorns fans agree that either Texas or Oklahoma is worthy to continue.

The tiebreaking system within the Big 12 differs markedly from other conferences. In most conferences, when there is a three way tie for first place, they take the two teams with the highest ranking and determine a champion based on the head-to-head record between those two teams.

It is possible the Big 12 could implement a similar system next season.

im so sick and tired of arguing this nonsense....

I just hope UT gets a BCS game when it is said and done. I hope we get a nice opponent in a non Fiesta Bowl game. UT and OU suck at the Fiesta Bowl.

I honestly would not mind UT vs PSU in the Rose Bowl. I think that would be one fun game to watch. Plus, UT is 2-0 in the Rose Bowl. But, that won't happen. It will be USC vs PSU.

If Florida beats Bama, maybe the Tide can meet the Horns down in Nawlins for some sweet Sugar Bowl action. This is one matchup I would love to see.

I just hope that if OU does beat Mizzou, that they take care of business and win the Championship, unless they play Bama. While I am a UT homer and a Big 12 first guy, Bama has long been my second favorite school. So if OU gets Bama.....ROLL TIDE....but if OU gets the Gators, I hope Stoopes and company come back wearing some nice new reptilian boots and belts.

That's up to them, but bear in mind that rules are very arbitrary. In other words, if they change the rules then the new rule is just as likely to help TX as OU.

Absolutely. I'm merely pointing out that the system used by other conferences seems to generate less rancor and discontent in the national media.

That's your biggest problem. Going back to what I said time and time again-in the NFL you can lose to a team two times during the regular season and still go to the big game. Just ask the New York Giants. You can argue, "yeah but that's the NFL". Yeah, you're right. But this is college football and there is more than one game factored in to the success of a team. Deal with it.
