God you really hate Merriman don't you cause you always dog him, Merroidman, lol.

Not that we hate him just tired of the guy getting caught cheating and getting praised with Pro Bowl status along with runner up as DPOY.

He cheated with PERFORMANCE ENHANCING drugs. 2nd word is key.

I don't hate him. Until he got busted for using steroids, I always said I'd love to have him on the other side from Ware. He's a good player. (But he's also overrated and overhyped.) And now he's tainted. He's the Mark McGwire of the NFL.

Hey did you noticed you never see McGwire doing any public appearances at all since he left the league and became infamous for his weasel of a performance in the MLB drug hearings held on Capitol Hill?

That's probably because the roids wore off since he's no longer playing and has no need to take them and he's probably 100lb lighter than he was when he played. :p:

Well, they are testing him more after that so he can't take them and he was still performing well. Its not like Sammy Sosa who disappeared after he was caught, Merriman is still performing at a high level.

Now, with modern technology, who knows what is going on with him and I wholeheartly say that if any player in the league is using steriods it is Merriman. But if he is tested often, at some point we have to accept his performance.

He didnt perform today.

Anyway, we'll see how he does next season when he should be clean.

Well, he did get a sack.

I just know us as cowboy fans will naturally down him, heck I do it myself. But I also have to admit that he is at the very least the emotional leader of that defense. I wish we had one of those.

If its anything like Wares sack on Vick it wont count as an official sack since he tackled Brady as he was scrambling and there wasnt even a loss of yardage

(7:04) (Shotgun) T.Brady sacked at SD 41 for 0 yards (S.Merriman).

Would have been a TFL against a guy like Vick.

Ware had a "sack" vs. Vick which was called a TFL.

I think his sack today should have been a tackle since Brady was scrambling forward - actually got back very close to the LOS.

Two points here, and I'm not necessarily defending LT or condemning the Pats:

a) Belichick IS dirty, has been for years, and is often disrespectful of not only the opponent, but always with the media and his assistants (especially when they leave NE). Ask Mangini. Ask the NE beat writers that deal with him 250-300 days a year. His players have reflected that more than once the past few years. This is not to take away from his accomplishments because he IS a truly great coach and an HOF'er, but let's call a spade a spade. When teams win for a long period of time, the ones that become media darlings have the faults of thier coaches and players largely ignored the majority of the time. See the 80's 49ers and thier O-line's notorious chopblocking that ended a few careers.

b) The fact that a guy like Tomlinson felt the need to say something should catch everyone's attention. It should tell you that rather than LT being a baby (he is widely regarded as one of the classiest players in the league, if not all of sports), it should make you think that maybe, just maybe, the Great Belichick and Brady are not angels. I know thats a shock, but think about it. If Merriman had been b*tch*ng at the end of the game, no one would (or should) have taken it too seriously. I guarantee you that Mangini could probably tell you some Belichick stories that would blow your mind.

That said, once Marty didn't kick that 48-yarder in the 1st, I figured they would lose, but I held out hope till the end. I hope Manning opens up a can of whoopass next weekend, but we all know that Dungy's preparation and coaching ability is far from Belichick's level, so the Colts are going to need some luck on thier side. Belichick is a great coach, and a guy like Marty (and Dungy) has no business trying to get cute with him. His team paid the price today.

Merroidman (I like that) makes plays for his team, that's all you can really ask from a player. We need some more playmakers on our defense right now.

Back to LT, has anyone shown the pats doing that roid rage dance?!?! I would love to see that.

I dont think I have ever seen the "best player in football" act that way before. I was shocked at how much of a sore loser LT is. And to top it with any support of Merriman is just gutter.

Too bad. Do this.. 1) Win the game. 2) Don't do stupid dances that degrade your opponent then cry when it's thrown back at you.

If he did indeed stop using after he failed it still does not change the fact that he at one time was taking steroids. The effects of those steroids just don't disappear over night. His performance for the entire season can be at the benefit of the steroids he was taking even after he stopped/got caught. Maybe next year, it can be said that his performance isn't directly related to steroids, but there will still be some doubt.

There is not yet a test for HGH and some other designer steroids may not be easily found with current tests. Any player can be using and getting away with using these types of performance enhancing substances. I don't doubt that there are even some Cowboys using them. Guys like Merriman and Castillo who have tested postive once may still be using something. They may even be more prone to continued use. That one failed test puts his performance in doubt the rest of his career. I will say that about any player. Julius Peppers is another guy and if a Cowboy player ever fails, I will feel the same way about that player.

Excellent point, nice post. I understand that, but the problem is you have to start putting every player in doubt, even the players that haven't been caught yet. But I understand what you are saying.
