That the Cowboys made a decision made on false information and a player paid the price for their screwup.

No, they didn't. There was a valid arrest warrant out for Lucky Whitehead when they cut him. Its a one in million occurance that the warrant is later withdrawn because of identity theft.

No, your "narrative" misses the point.

That the Cowboys made a decision made on false information and a player paid the price for their screwup.

It was the VA municipality's screwup. The Cowboys did not issue the warrant.

That the warrant ended up being unfounded does not mean the team should have trusted Lucky Whitehead. When they asked him what happened and found they did not trust him then it is over. That is both independent of the incident and cause for dismissal in and of itself.

"Valid" warrant huh? Based on what exactly?

This is really funny, the FWST just posted a basically verbatim transcript of Jason Garrett being asked a dozen stupid questions about this over and over again.

On any regret cutting Lucky Whitehead:
“Yesterday we made a decision that we deemed to be in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys. We’re standing by that decision and we’re going to move on.”

But it was based on a false arrest report: “Yesterday we made a decision we thought was in the best decision that we felt was in the best interest of the Dallas cowboys. We’re going to stand by that decision and we’re going to move on.”

On saying same thing over and over: “It’s the truth. We made a decision we felt was in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys.”

On if anyone is too stupid to work for organization: “I’ll stand by the statement that I made. We made a decision yesterday that we felt was in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys. We’re going to stand by that decision and we’re going to move forward.”

On if it sends wrong message to team: “Yesterday we made a decision that we thought was in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys. We’re going to stand by that decision and we’re going to move forward.”

On why Whitehead wasn’t cut before camp: “Again, guys, I’m not going to continue to address this. We made a decision we thought was in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys. We’re going to stand by that decision and we’re going to move on.”

On if organization knows something we don’t: “We know a lot of things about our players that you guys don’t know.”

On the only thing that changed with Whitehead was arrest: “Guys -- we made a decision yesterday that we thought was in the best interest of our team. In evaluating the particular situation and the context of that situiaont, we felt like we made a decision in regards to Lucky that was right for our team. We stand by that decision.”

On happy that Whitehead’s name has been cleared: “I think the best thing for Lucky is to have a clean slate and he’ll have a new opportunity somewhere else. That’s good for him and, again, it’s in the best interst of our football team.”

On if Whitehead told the organization he didn’t do it: “We had a number of conversations with Lucky regarding this and, again, we made a decision we think is in the best interest of the dallas cowboys.”

On why other players with off-field issues haven’t been cut: “Guys, this will be the last time I’ll say it. I appreciate your interest in it. we made a decision yesterday in regards to Lucky Whitehead that we think is in the best interest of the dallas cowboys. We’re standing by that decision. We’re going to move forward. If you have any other football questions, I’m happy to answer them.”

It is almost like they were trying to overload his positronic brain.

No it isn't, not by a longshot. Save your fingers.

Neither you nor the Cowboys is going to spin this into anything more than the screwup it is.

Garrett looked like an *** today trying. You shouldn't follow suit.

So now you are going for the blanket dismissal and try to say that my argument makes me look like an ***. Garrett looked bad because he avoided the argument. I am not doing that.

Not compelling in the least.

Certainly nothing to crow about or puff your chest out the way that some people might like to or think they're "right" about.

He was talking about the trend. I see a program that consistently --relative to other teams-- develops drafted talent myself.

Based on you punch his name into national law enforcement databases and it tells you Lucky Whitehead has a warrant out and should be arrested.

The warrant was withdrawn later, but it was in the system when he was cut.

I'm pointing out how anyone looks trying to defend this move.

You can decide where you want to be standing.

A "screwup" means there is some negative impact to the team. Cutting the WR who is 9th or 10th on the depth chart in July instead of August has no impact whatsoever.

A judge would have had to sign off on it. Are you being obtuse intentionally?

A warrant based on having zero proof of ID other than some guy's word for it?

If I knew it was that easy I'd go on a crime spree and leave my wallet at home.

"My name?" "Keyser Soze"

Brilliant!

A "screwup" is any decision made based on false or inaccurate information.

I see .558.

Enough for some people to crow about I guess.

But not everyone has high standards.

And a few minutes ago, wins and losses was the standard.

Anyone else see how that changes?

You can decide where you want to be standing.

Your argument has devolved into pure ad hominem and ridicule. Perhaps you should consider how that makes you look, holmes.

There was a valid arrest warrant out for Lucky and when asked for explanation the team found they did not trust what he was saying based on multiple past incidents.

Sure it looks bad to the knee jerk reaction but overall I don't think it is stupid or unfounded.

It was definitely a PR hiccup. But that's the only place it hurts us. I really thought Lucky was going to be better, however hes not and I was wrong. No harm on the football field for this decision.

Im sure the Cowboys thought it was going to play out differently. I cant blame them for trusting the warrant. It was just bad luck in the middle of a tabloid offseason.
