RELEASED Lucky Whitehead Cut **merged**

I'm so sick of hearing he wasn't going to make the roster anyway. That's not the point. I don't care what other incidents he's had. Jerry, Jason, and Stephen botched this. The man and his agent tried to tell them that he wasn't even in VA and that he'd not been arrested. They didn't believe him or his agent. All they had to wait is 48 hours. They tried to have their asthma field moment and failed. Honestly, for Lucky, it's the best thing to happen to him. He'll get on in someone's camp early instead of late August after real cuts begin. Prediction, he'll be picked up by one of the other NFCE squads.

He is better off being cut.

He had about zero chance of making the Cowboys roster. They would have to keep 6 WRs AND not keep the draft pick Brown. Only a serious injury to a WR in training camp would keep him on the roster.

Some team will give him a shot and he might have a legit chance somewhere else.

The way Linehan talked about Switzer, he is basically a lock.

The WR coach is a fan of Butler based on an interview from earlier this year.
I wouldn't say zero chance. Injuries do happen, and they could still happen to Bease or Switzer.

They pretty much wanted to get rid of lucky with the WRs we have and this was their prime opportunity to rid themselves of a guy that was well liked in the locker room with as little kickback as possible. Unfortunately, Lucky was innocent, so this doesn't reflect too well on the FO.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's get worked up over a Lucky Whitehead release.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's exaggerate that people are that concerned over Whitehead instead of the bad timing of the move to try to silence dissenting opinions.

I almost never say anything negative about the Cowboys but this Lucky Whitehead story is disgraceful. I heard last night that his agent said Lucky wasn't in VA at the time of the alleged incident. They could have waited 24 hours to see if that was true. And of course the VA police deserve a big thumbs down for the lousy job they did as well. Punishing an innocent man (innocent in this particular instance at least) is bad, very bad. Hope this negative Karma doesn't last long

I think the message is clear ball out or get out ! if you're on top of your game you're afforded some leeway if not, hit the road.

We all know at some point, barring serious injuries, Lucky was going to get cut. Cutting a guy for accountability issues that was gonna get cut for performance issues anyway, doesn't make JG look tough. It should have been handled differently, in most cases, teams delay action until they gather more facts. Cutting Lucky Whitehead for conduct issues wasn't going to send a real message to the team or public. It rings hollow, especially after the police admitted mistaken identity. JG just wanted to make a good show about being tough and the show became a circus.

Did he get the summons to appear?

Even if innocent, be would need to respond to a summons if issued.

This wasn't about Lucky's innocence. The Cowboys were probably moving on from him anyway. This was clear back when they drafted Ryan Switzer. And Whitehead had some prior incidents. Remember last December when they deactivated him for a game for missing a practice? The night before he posted pics of himself out partying late.

What happened here is simple- Whitehead was expendable. The Cowboys wanted to send a message, they acted too quickly, and now they look bad.

This will all be forgotten soon; and now Lucky can go fumble punts for somebody else.

That's a very good point. If Lucky had a month to prove he wasn't in the state at the time of the incident he shares some of the blame for not clearing things up before his appointed court date.
