Did he get the summons to appear?

Even if innocent, be would need to respond to a summons if issued.

No, he didn't get the summons. The entire case against him has been dropped.

Those that say they don't care are likely the ones that were so eager to point out that he shoplifted and was an idiot for not knowing what was going on and how the Cowboys should have known.

Now, they don't want to admit they were wrong to jump to conclusions and when people like myself told them to calm down and wait to hear the facts they claimed that they had a 'tin foil hat theory.'

I almost never say anything negative about the Cowboys but this Lucky Whitehead story is disgraceful. I heard last night that his agent said Lucky wasn't in VA at the time of the alleged incident. They could have waited 24 hours to see if that was true. And of course the VA police deserve a big thumbs down for the lousy job they did as well. Punishing an innocent man (innocent in this particular instance at least) is bad, very bad. Hope this negative Karma doesn't last long

It's obvious they didn't expect to keep him anyway. They would give him more time if they thought there was any chance he would be 1 of their top 53 after camp.

He had already screwed up in the past so the previous screw-ups are on him and eliminated any buffer he might have been given this time.

Two things I wonder about before I move on from this Lucky Whitehead thing (because it is a little ridiculous):

1. Who can the Cowboys sign with an open roster space?

2. Can Whitehead and the NFLPA file a grievance against the Cowboys; and if so, what happens then?

Your example would have a point if Lucky was cut when he missed a meeting last year. Difference is he was cut for something he did not do.

The previous infractions eliminated the benefit of the doubt that other players might get in this situation.

We all know at some point, barring serious injuries, Lucky was going to get cut. Cutting a guy for accountability issues that was gonna get cut for performance issues anyway, doesn't make JG look tough. It should have been handled differently, in most cases, teams delay action until they gather more facts. Cutting Lucky Whitehead for conduct issues wasn't going to send a real message to the team or public. It rings hollow, especially after the police admitted mistaken identity. JG just wanted to make a good show about being tough and the show became a circus.

The Cowboys messed up, no doubt about it. They could have waited to cut him 3rd pre-season game, etc, but they jumped the gun assuming, like a lot of you, that he was guilty. I hope the locker room, and outside possible free agents/players don't take what happened personally.

I can't believe all this talk about Lucky Whitehead. He was little better than a scrub. The Cowboys knew he wasn't going to make the team. Nobody's going to miss him and he'll end up somewhere else anyway.
The point isn't about missing him but you and others are stuck on obtuseness right now. Of course it will go away but that's not the point for today. I guess you don't speak on anything ever since it's always about who is more better, famous, etc. There should never be talk about anything since the answer to any question is if you get away with things you're better looking, more connected, have more money, etc. Ime it doesn't seem to work like that but maybe in yours it does. You in Pa must be a bumble part because in Philly I don't see that way of things being the norm.

They said they issued a warrant for failure to appear. That means there was a warrant before the case was dropped.

The only question is whether he received it. They had his real name and SS#, so it's possible they had his address.

I agree that it's moronic to jump to conclusions. I said the Lewis DV case was likely bogus and indeed it was.

It still say there was no evidence on Greg Hardy and that the charges and subsequent media coverage was more than he could handle.

They won't it's about the money. We are just going back and forth over semantics if we are being honest with ourselves.

It's funny how most Cowboys didn't want him anyways and was happy he was guilty and then ecstatic he was cut. No one actually cares about competition anymore. What's done is done, I just wish I had the opportunity to see he and the new guy battle it out, instead, he's now handed a nice little job with ZERO effort.

I don't think they will. The Cowboys normally do good by their players. Again, Whitehead already had one foot out the door. The Cowboys just pushed him out at the wrong time. Maybe I'm naive, but the message could still stick.

Just in case anybody else missed it, YR did in fact repeatedly suggest exactly what happened today was likely to happen. And he's right that it proved once again that the torch-and-pitchfork routine often ends up making you look silly when there's nothing to burn or to poke. [Insert your own 'nothing to poke' comment here]

There is somerhing really funky going on here. A dog napping followed by "false arrest".

Here is what I would like to know:

Was the warrant mailed to Whitehead'a home? If so, why didn't he report to court date? Remember there are two charges, one of them is "failure to report", regardless of guilt or innocense.

Did Lucky know the guilty party, was he aware of the deception?

What is Lucky involved in that someone would kidnap his dog?

Im convimced there is far more to this story.

Yeah it's hard to do take backs. It's best just to wait until everything unfolds.

The Cowboys certainly don't look good here based on what has been reported.

Lucky was likely an eventual cut anyway but the way all this went down makes the Cowboys look kind of silly unless there is some bizarre back story here.

I don't see why. This was the straw that broke the camel's back for Lucky, but it was a legitimate distraction to the team for the player who could probably least afford it. The team was perfectly justified in moving on, given the resources they'd already devoted to replacing him.

And it's not the team's fault the police department issued an arrest warrant in error, anyway. If it weren't the Dallas Cowboys, nobody would care about a WR5/PR2 was released after a story like yesterday's.
