I posted two draft reports questioning Schoonmaker as a receiver. There are plenty others out there. Again, I'm not saying Schoonmaker doesn't have the measurables to be a good receiver. Most of the questions stem from a lack of production, which can be due to a number of factors.

Here's just one that I found with a quick search just now:

On Luepke, I thought I read that he was a try-hard blocker, but wasn't that great at it. Looking for reports that say that right now, it appears I could be mistaken.

Here's one I just found:

Blocking

Hunter Luepke is a very talented blocker in both run and pass schemes. In run-blocking schemes, he does a good job of quickly gaining leverage and steering defenders to open up a lane. He also has good play strength at the point of attack which allows him to drive defenders back. On passing plays, he is good at using his play strength and aggressiveness to hold his ground against defenders. By doing this, he is giving his QB more time in the pocket, allowing him to make a play.
From Brugler:

Luepke is one of the best pass-catching fullback prospects in recent memory thanks to his body control as a route runner, ball tracker and finisher.

His running and blocking won’t be his calling cards in the NFL, but he is serviceable in both areas.

Maybe that's what I saw about his blocking. Thanks.

If he makes the team, and I think he will, he is going to be a swiss army knife type guy
Agreed…though I have no prediction on whether he makes the team.

I‘m not a fan of posting profiles because you can find one that agrees with anything you believe. BUT here is what NFL.com says:

Luepke was a two-time conference Offensive Player of the Year in football, two-time state champion wrestler, three-time all-conference pick in baseball and conference champion in the 100-meter dash at Spencer High School in Wisconsin.
Versatile fullback with experience as a tailback, tight end and Wildcat option. Luepke is a jack-of-all-trades who has posted an impressive touchdown-per-touch ratio as both a runner and pass-catcher. He’s expected to test well and has the ability to compete for reps as a core special-teamer. While he has soft hands and has shown some route-running savvy, he will need to prove himself as a lead blocker if he is to excite NFL offensive coordinators.

He’s an all around well rounded complete te with pass catching upside.

that’s what they wanted. They got it.
and your problem is what?

and yes lve sucks
My problem is he's not better than ferguson right now. I would have rather them resigned schultz than spend a 2nd round pick on schoon

Crazy stuff.. you mean off the chart athletic TE's who played on teams that dont use TE's for passing much can still be productive in the NFL??? crazy stuff...

The LSU OG that went in the 4th has a similar probability of success as Torrence.
....and as we took Overshown (who probably could of still been there in later rounds) when Bradford was still available, gives further evidence that we were looking at a the more athletic Avila and Bergeron ,who could get to the second level, rather than the man mauling Bradford and Torrence.

There's one of those question marks about his blocking. Doesn't say he can't excel at it, but that he does need to prove himself.

Luepke is not a great blocker, but appears to be a quality runner and receiver. Schoonmaker is a great blocker with questions about what he can contribute as a receiver. Would be interesting if Luepke proves to be a fullback find in the mold of Green Bay's John Kuhn if we'd run more 1FB-1TE sets with Schoonmaker serving as more of an inline tight end and Leupke being a threat coming out of the backfield.

Of course, we're talking about a UDFA fullback and those haven't fared well in camp for years now. It's just an interesting alternative to two-tight end sets for me, especially since we don't have an established starting TE.
Schoon is quick, fast and agile and will be fixed at TE. Luepke will get every chance to stay on the roster as a FB and can block. Do not sleep on Fant who played FB on goal line short yardage situations, can block, run, and is fast, quick and agile.

I can see both Luepke and Fant making this roster.

Because I saw ferguson be successful against nfl competition. shoot ferguson was better than schultz last season
So what? I saw him make some plays too and I like him. That doesnt mean he is better than Shoonmaker. Schoon is already a better athlete and blocker. Faster, stronger, ect...ect... Only thing we havent seen yet is how good he can be in a real passing type offense that asks him to do that.

Again, bottom line is you hated the pick so your making up every kind of negative thing in your head.

I wasnt high on the pick. I would have rather they taken Torrence. But I can see why they liked the kid and what they see in him.

And I am definitely not going to sit here and say Ferguson is better. No way I can know that.

I wanted drew sanders. He plays like Vander trash was supposed to play lber. Then we coulda had darnell washington in the 3rd. my goodness just better all the way around. I don't like taking blocking tight ends in round 2. giving me james hanna vibes all over again

LOL..Hes not just a blocking TE. You must be incapable of reason. But you can think that all you want.

As far as Washington that guy is bust in the making. He will be injured his whole career. Talk about a one dimensional blocking TE?

We also got a LBer in the 3rd. I like the kid.

I wanted Torrence. However I will give the kid a chance. I also realize that TE's have two jobs. Blocking and pass catching.

Washington was a medical red flag. They weren't drafting him.
