Lynch's workout

yup that's true. I believe all 3 qbs can be stars in this league, just depends on where they go. we have the perfect situation for all 3 , saying that trading with san fran and taking there 2nd and getting lynch at 7 would be a good day for me. As you said QBs do get overdrafted and I see that happening when Wentz and Goff are off the board. someone will make a play for lynch if we don't.

Isn't that extremely rare to have 3 QBs in the first round become studs?

It is, that's why I said it depends on where they go. We have the Oline and Romo , its a good situation for a 1st round talent Qb to go into.

Actually, his accuracy, touch and release all need a lot of work. Not sure what you're watching.

Uhhh, no.

His release is much quicker than Wentz's. I think if you look at his in-game accuracy he's much more accurate than Wentz as well. He showed really good touch in the pro day.

With Lynch, it's about his footwork and anticipation. The anticipation has been questioned because of the offense he played in (they had the same issue with Aaron Rodgers coming out). His footwork has been an issue because he's a college kid that relies on his arm strength. His footwork was sharp here.

You think Goff has higher bust potential than Lynch?

The "small hands" rumor was dispelled at the combine BTW.

He was measured in at 9" hands at the combine. That's small by NFL QB standards.

And yes, I think Goff has a higher bust potential than Lynch. Smaller frame, small hands, hand fumbling issues in college, had some quality receivers on his team (Lynch didn't).

Goff was well schooled at Cal, but I can see him a lot like Mark Sanchez and I think the upside for Goff is more like Matt Ryan.

Lynch has one of the most elongated releases of anyone in the draft this year. He also has significant accuracy issues throwing on the run, which is particularly alarming since he has such happy feet.

I've said numerous times I think Lynch has the highest ceiling of any QB, but his throwing motion (release) and accuracy need some work and he hasn't shown any real ability to read a defense.

I agree the upside for Goff is like Matt Ryan.

So you ignore how much better of a passer Goff was in college and focus on his athletic ability, at the position where that may be the least important aspect?

He's made far better great throws than Goff or Wentz. His throws outside the numbers has been tremendous. He's trimmed the fat off his footwork. He's struggled a bit with locating passes on the left, but the wind is blowing hard from that way. He also made some incredible throws on the run which is where he struggled a bit this season which is a product of improved footwork. He's anticipating pretty well, but has had some throws where his timing is a little off.

His improvement in his footwork in 3 months is extremely promising. Would like to see him throw more into the wind.

My guess...I think he's too good to pass up at #4 because he's probably gone by 7.

That improvement goes a long way im coaches minds, especially for a QB. Shows they know how to prepared

He's a significantly better passer than Lynch right now and that's what I am looking for at QB, personally.

right now yes hes a better passer but the thing is if he comes here he's not going to be starting , and either is lynch so with time lynch could become the better passer.

Could being the most important word. And one way to decide which QB is more likely to develop into a top NFL passer is actual college performance. The fact Lynch is the rawest of the 3 is why he's probably considered by most the riskiest of the three.

He could become the better passer, but why couldn't Goff improve just as much?

Lynch is seriously underrated here

He needs work in reading defenses and footwork but they all do. The pure talent is there--strong arm, mobility, accuracy, touch, quick release etc

Very few QB prospects come out with the combination pf touch and arm strength Lynch has

I would say the ability to put touch on the ball and still be accurate is one of his biggest weak points. He tends to more often rely on his cannon and sail passes or throw them into the dirt.

and You could be right, just saying I like all 3 qbs. id be happy with either one. the fact is which ever one we draft will be sitting on the bench for a couple years.

I don't know what Lynch you are watching. His release is as tight as Goff's and Wentz's release is noticeably longer than both Goff and Lynch. And Lynch has a lot more arm strength than Goff.

I watched Wentz play several times this year and his down the field accuracy was a real issue. Lynch was generally very accurate (his receivers suck) outside of throwing on the run. But at the pro day he threw the ball really well on the run, particularly for a 25 mph wind. And his throws outside the numbers were outrageous. I doubt Goff can make those throws and Wentz is a work in progress as far as making those throws.

The overthrows he had was the QB coach asking him to throw a soft pass to the left with the wind going in and away from the receiver. Extremely tough throw to make.

The big thing I wanted to see is how well he handled being under center, the footwork on the 5 step drops and throws on the run and he passed those areas. The ridiculous deep throws he made, particularly outside the numbers that were on the money in 25 mph winds were just a product of his improved footwork (and something I saw he could do this year). That showed me that making the changes were things he could do rather easily and not make it cumbersome for him.

I just think it's funny that everyone is talking all this upside and how much Wentz/Lynch could improve, but apparently Goff is at his ceiling already...

Wait, do scouts say Lynch has great touch? Most of what I had read said that touch is one of the areas he needs to work on.

He showed a great touch in the pro day. I know they mentioned they thought he needed to work on it before the pro day and that he showed great touch at the pro day.
