Lynch's workout

I would say the ability to put touch on the ball and still be accurate is one of his biggest weak points. He tends to more often rely on his cannon and sail passes or throw them into the dirt.

He needs work. Foot work, delivery, release point. The question is will they improve, which is where the football character comes into play. But he is not a Flacco or a Stafford thats going to throw every pass 100 miles an hour in the NFL. Thats the issue with some of the big armed QBs coming out, even the ones that have solid careers. They dont throw balls with touch.

Of course, you can't just assume that things couldn't have actually changed since January. Teams have spent more time talking to these guys, watching more tape, putting them through workouts, etc.

So the fact Lynch was 3rd in January and now projected to go in the teens might actually be where his real value is and that January was possibly more hype than reality.

Lynch at 4 just seems like a reach to me.

Everything we see is based on the media perception. I believe many believe there is only room for 2 QBs in the top 10 for this draft, once Wentz became the chosen one, Lynch saw his stock decline.

Regardless---everything we see is based on the media perception. Nobody truly knows how each team values these players, there are no true team draft boards out there and the Mel Kipers of the world have no sway on the NFL draft. If the team thinks Lynch is worth the fourth pick, take him, they have a lot of resources out there to allocate and judge these players.

I just think it's funny that everyone is talking all this upside and how much Wentz/Lynch could improve, but apparently Goff is at his ceiling already...

Drew Brees had a low ceiling/high floor once....

Goff is my preference. Im shocked everyone calls him " Matt Ryan" i see much more Romo in his game then Ryan

Then a short pass to TE that he had to go low for....burned his whole shin area LOL

I don't know what Lynch you are watching. His release is as tight as Goff's and Wentz's release is noticeably longer than both Goff and Lynch. And Lynch has a lot more arm strength than Goff.

I watched Wentz play several times this year and his down the field accuracy was a real issue. Lynch was generally very accurate (his receivers suck) outside of throwing on the run. But at the pro day he threw the ball really well on the run, particularly for a 25 mph wind. And his throws outside the numbers were outrageous. I doubt Goff can make those throws and Wentz is a work in progress as far as making those throws.

The overthrows he had was the QB coach asking him to throw a soft pass to the left with the wind going in and away from the receiver. Extremely tough throw to make.

The big thing I wanted to see is how well he handled being under center, the footwork on the 5 step drops and throws on the run and he passed those areas. The ridiculous deep throws he made, particularly outside the numbers that were on the money in 25 mph winds were just a product of his improved footwork (and something I saw he could do this year). That showed me that making the changes were things he could do rather easily and not make it cumbersome for him.

I am talking about their full body of work, not their individual workouts which actually mean very little in the grand scheme of things other than showing their mechanics. I've watched all of Lynch and Goff's games, to say Lynch has a compact release and compare it to Goff is about as egregious a comment as I can fathom someone saying of one of these QB's.

I don't want you to think it's just me either, though I formed the opinion myself, a quick google turned up these results:

From a mechanics standpoint, Lynch has a bit of a long windup

I will give you that Lynch throws a gorgeous deep ball. No arguments from me there.

In my view what will make or break all 3 QB is the space between the ears. How quickly can they process information as a blitz is coming, most QB have skill sets to even have a chance to play at this level but it is the ability to process things you are seeing and reacting to them quickly and making the right decision. Unfortunately there are not many test at the combines or pro days that can tell you how they will respond to the speed and the complexity of an NFL defense while under pressure.

TE bleeding in the huddle...#40...LMAO....bleeding from sock to his knee on his left leg having had to go low for the one pass.

I don't recall any of Goff's receivers needing a transfusion after a day of playing catch

I think the mock draft adjustments from the talking heads are mostly just normalization from actual info trickling in from teams as to their actual scouted value.

Damn, just made a guy blow his hammy trying to catch up to a pass. He's got two guys headed for IR and the workout isn't half over.

Agreed. That's why all this talk about how great of an athlete a QB is really doesn't matter much to me. As long as he has shown he can make all of the throws (which the top 3 certainly have) then I am not worried about that. The ability to process information quickly is what is most important. You can't lock on to receivers in the NFL, it will get you killed.

Here's the rest of what Zierlein wrote:

Lynch has a little bit of a windup, but it's not enough to allow defenders to close the throwing windows on him. From the pocket, he did a nice job of setting his feet and throwing with a balanced base. Lynch does a good job of keeping the ball tight to his body and near his chest when he's in the pocket. He made a good effort to square up to throw when he was on the move, but there is still room for improvement in that area.

THe show off throw, roll left and throw it deep to the right sideline.
