I like realism and sim so I went with 2K. It isnt like 2K fans sprouted up out of nothing.. we played Madden at some point. I stopped buying Madden after the 2001 version up untill I got 2006 for PC. I still think NFL 2K5 is still the best football game out right now ( not even close really ). Cant beat the on field action 2K5 offers.

never was a fan of 2k games until madden 2005 disappointed me
and i figured id give 2k5 a shot since it was only 20 bucks
and i loved it

graphics are FAARRR SUPERIOR to maddens
and if u cant see that then idk wut to tell u (btw, my sig is a low res capture from the game)
in addition, the presentation is phenomenal!!!
i love when they bring out the chains and players crowd around to see the results
stuff like that makes it more fun
cuz not only r u playin a game but u can jus sit back and feel like ur watchin a game...with the halftime shows, sportcenter, and the way they present the superbowl makes it feel like THE SUPERBOWL, not jus another game

But, I'll probably go pick it up today. There's nothing that could unseat Madden for me, it's tradition, but if I can get this, and be playing with TO and Ayodele and Vanderjagt until Madden comes out, why not? I'll give it a try.

I'm not sure there's any way to modify GC games rosters - at least I've never heard of any. And I'm almost positive the 2K series was not for GC.

...are young so I won't allow them to play with any system other than GC. I want some control over the titles they play at this age.

I guess I'm stuck with waiting for the price of Madden to fall at the end of the season before getting the newest roster.

Ha ha. Madden 2007 for the 360 was so watered down and pushed out it was pathetic. Half the NFL rules don't apply. There's absolutely NO depth to the game. It's ALL graphics. Which is fine and good. May as well go play Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball or some other button mashing game.

I assume you mean madden 2006...it was not designed to be that great of a game. It was produced simply to test graphics on the 360 and see what needed to be changed so that they could make the 2007 version better. You cannot use a first year game for a console in this type of discussion.

And as for all of the "bells and whistles" you constantly refer to, they are what makes games change. You cannot change gameplay considerably every year because football is football, what are you gonna do eliminate passing?

And the jumping argument that someone made, this is an example of how much you can actually do in madden. From what I've played of 2k series controlling defenders and things of this sort cannot even compare. If a person learns all of the intricacies of the Madden game like user catches and precision passing the 2k series does not even come close.

Tradition? Thats your reason? No, its called they have you hooked on its product. You got suckered in to think that its "Tradition". ITs a video game for Christ's sake and although its "nostalgic" to think about the game 10 years ago and now. Sorry bro, I'm not falling for EA's media campaign. I'm not paying $50 every year for the same game ... albeit new cover boy, updated rosters, and some bells and whistles.

This is what Madden football is. Madden 2007 is nothing more than Madden 2000 with updated rosters, bells and whistles.

Yes, and i dont ever get stopped on madden so i score a TD every play. This argument makes no sense as wrap ups, shoelace tackles, and double teams happen constantly. The hit stick allows once again for the human element to come more into play while adding a fun effect.

i never played the 2k series so i have to say Madden is better.

You have never played the 2k series therefor you shouldn't have an opinion on the matter. I own both games (NFL 2K5 and Madden 06). Currently, 2K5 sits in my Xbox with updated rosters while Madden is currently stuffed somewhere in my closet collecting dust. I'm thinking about using it as a coaster for my iced tea, or perhaps as a frisbee. Madden 06 is a joke. The gameplay is nowhere near realistic, which has become the norm for any EA related product, and as many have already stated, the graphics engine has not been upgraded in some time. EA has made minor improvements to their current engine every year, but the actual engine has not seen a significant upgrade, such as player models for about 5 years. 2K5 has is problems, too, such as the NFL draft in which the CPU only selects a QB, RB, DE, or OT in the first round, but as far as realism and gameplay, even graphics, Madden 06 does not compare to 2K5.
