Not saying Rush has proven to be a world-beater. But any QB who can come in and win games deserves at least a shot at the starting job. Besides, what have you seen from Dak since, say from after the bye week of last season, that makes you feel he is an elite QB worthy of his contract? I haven't seen it.
You have made an incorrect assumption. There are zero posts on this site where I have ever stated Dak Prescott is an elite quarterback. However, I have made posts where I have said professional sports athletes, regardless of sport and positional designation, are extremely overpaid.
That said, I have also said professional sports athletes' contracts are not merit-driven but
market driven. It does not matter whether any observer agrees or disagrees with any contract. Each athlete is paid whatever the market bears. If anyone has an issue with Prescott or any other quarterback's contract, they should address it with the person or person's bestowing it to them.
Back to Prescott. My philosophy has been unchanged in 45 years. In my opinion, a starter does not lose their position due to injury. IF coaches properly evaluate another player's performance and determine
during practice it
exceeds the starter
after their return to active play, they should do their job and replace the starter at that time. A change should not happen because of how they, media, or fans feel. It certainly should not happen when anyone is experiencing euphoria over wins generated by overall team effort. Make an educated football decision instead.
