Name a quarterback playing on a rookie contract with his accolades who would just allow anything. The NFL is a business first and a sport secondly
Dak was offered ~$30M a year and turned it down.

Kind of reminds me of Nerlens Noel turning down a 4 year $70M contract with the Mavs in hopes of more $; and ended up with a lot less.

If we wanna make a run to a title game, it’ll have to be the way Tennessee has done it with Tannehill. Defense and dominant running.

Not going to happen if we overpay that “QB” we have at center. Can’t run fast. Doesn’t have a great arm. Can’t pass well. Can’t step up on the pocket. Not dual threat. Not a pure pocket passer. Not a good decision maker. Breaks down under pressure. Besides good press conferences and good locker room presence, what is Dak good at that has to do with being a QB on the field? We unfortunately won’t be able to pay potential future superstars that come to Dallas for defense if Dak takes up 1/4 of the cap. Same if Amari is involved in that cap hit. The Titans are a cheap team. Dallas won’t be a cheap team if they make the mistakes they speak of making.

Well, duh. Mahomes and Wilson are probably the best 2 QBs in the league. You can’t compare Dak to that.

It’s not a knock on Dak. He’s still a quality QB.

Waiting Mahomes and now Russell Wilson just really opened my eyes.

Wilson is Romo but built like a RB. Their offense is Wilson buying time until guys get open enough for him to get a ball in there. Or he runs. Total schoolyard ball.

And yes, better than Romo. But similar in carrying the offense as a playmaker.

I only watched a little of the playoffs, but I saw a *lot* of running QBs. It's not the future. It's now. We should similarly make the most of Dak's running ability. Otherwise, we're wasting him.

As a QB? John Elway, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Steve Young (and I don't really like him that much), Aikman (of course), Staubach (duh)

I’ve seen all of those guys play minus Staubach. In regards to talent, arm strength, accuracy, mobility, pocket presence, Mahomes is better and it’s not even close. But if I had a choice between a 94 Young vs. Mahomes, I would probably take Young.

I’ll add. I’ve said that if the Cowboys decide to draft a first round QB. I am ok with it.

Let’s be real though. The chance of that QB being on Mahomes level is like less than 10%.

That’s just the reality. But if people want to roll the dice on that. That’s fine.

I have to say you're the most reasonable "pro Dak" poster on here because you're willing to hear all the sides and then admit if the Cowboys want to go in another direction you'll be ok with it. I feel like a lot of the Dak fans on here automatically get very defensive when someone brings up that he might not be worth the $35-$40 million that he wants. I personally am a Dallas Cowboys fan first and if they decide to give Dak the huge contract I'll of course hope for the best but I don't think he's worth that much. I'd rather tag him, draft a QB in the first 3 rounds and then let McCarthy decide what to do after this coming season.
