Manziel: "I grew up a Cowboys fan, I was born at halftime of a game, would be folktale to wear Star"

I disagree with that. Jerrah would go nuts if he had the chance to get him at 16 or 17. The ticket/jersey sales would go through the roof if we got him.

I don't think Jerry has any interest in creating a QB controversy right now.

He's all in with Romo. He's got no cap space to speak of. The draft is pretty much his only avenue to improve this team this offseason. At least substantially improve the team. I doubt he'd burn a 1st rounder who doesn't help the team win next year with the QB he's already highly invested in.

He'd be a huge draw.

However, if I'm not mistaken, Dallas already leads the NFL in attendance by a large margin.

Now had Romo announced his retirement after the season because of his back, yeah....I think Jerry would move mountains to get Manziel. Dallas would be the favorite to land him, IMO.

I feel the exact same way. I'm not a big fan of his but I want change around here. Romo sure as hell isn't getting it done right now. I could be wrong about Manziel... but I know I'm right about Romo.

Let me fix it for you..."The defense sure as hell isn't getting it done right now. I could be wrong about Manziel...but I know I'm right about the defense." You can thank me later.

I like Manziel a lot but you guys are letting you emotions overcome your logic.

Look what it took cost the Commanders to get RGIII. Now think about what it would take to move from 17 to the first overall pick. You would cripple the franchise for years.

If we ever were going to move up you don't take Manziel, you take Bortles or Bridgewater who are more prototype QB's who translate better to the NFL game. Nothing is for sure, but in a gamble like that, you could never afford to be wrong.

Manziel has a high risk/reward element associated with his status and potential.
If for some reason he slides to 16th or 17th pick, Jerry should take him.

Lets all be clear here, even if some how they do draft Manziel, do you expect Ginger to do anything other than shoehorn him into the same old stale plays ?

Running Opie's 5 WR sets Johnny football would not last till week 6.

Romo has had a broken collarbone, punctured lung, herniated disk, broken hand, broken ribs, ect..................and Johnny football is smaller and lighter than Romo.

Don't think he will fail in the NFL. But will only have a Flutie type career. Good player, not great

Exactly. Sink or swim with Romo and Garrett this season and then consider a move like this when a competent coach comes in for 2015.

Possibly, and that would be the reasonable thing to do. But one thing I keep in mind, the coaching regime may change, BUT… the ownership/GM regime is still in place…. with Jerry reason & unreason are equal players. We think we know whats gonna happen this off season, within reason of course…..
But JJ is truly a wildcard and a Gambler…
unfortunately for us, he's been losing a lot lately.

Everyone's (including me) thinking of ways to improve the team to finally make that run with Romo, Ware, and Witten next year but there's just one problem, I don't think that you can improve this team enough to compete with Seattle or SF. This team needs to start making moves to seriously compete in 2016 and beyond, things like Wares contract should be thought of in this context not for next year, Escobar should start seeing more playing time because in 2015 or 2016 he'll be the starter. We can't seriously compete with the NFC West, Packers, nor the Saints next year but if playing the situation right maybe in 2015 we will be.

I have no idea how good he'll be.
But I think "Cowboy Nation" would be, at least for the short term, the most excited they've been in 20 years.

I am sure Jerry Jones has pondered the marketing aspect of taking him.

Just think of the relevance. Just think of the entertainment.

Just think of him saying "how did you like that Johnny Football?" and winking at the camera.

I do not doubt for a second he might have a slight bit of regret when he gets taken high in the draft.
