Marcus Spears aka "M-Dot"

I was expecting to see Spears shooting someone or something. If bad rapping is the worst non football problems the Boys have to worry about, then I'm feeling pretty good about the team.

Rap music gives people with no talent to sing a shot at being a star in the music industry. :D

that's just wrong.

I'd rather have a hole drilled in my head and battery acid poured in than to be subjected to rap music. :laugh2:

Hey, it's just my preference....to each his own. :shoot4:

:laugh2: So rapping requires no talent? Rappers are failed singers who resorted to rap? :lmao2: So there aren't horrible "studio" singers with no talent? Brilliant post. What type of music do you listen to?

Ok, well, when a bunch of players get together in a circle, play air guitar and bang their heads we will talk crap about them.

The point is... why are we talking about their musical preferences REGARDLESS of the type of music they listen to and have fun with before PRACTICE and in the LOCKER ROOM. This thread has a disturbing direction to it.

Human nature. You don't like to think that someone you hold in high regard is just as much of a 'tard as the guy next to you at the stoplight.

Not saying it's right...it just is.

Imagine if Spears was into Hard Core Occult Temple Synchronized Polka Flower Girl Music!!!! :)

Anyways talking fast is just that, talking fast. Whether you do it with a beat or do it at a cattle auction or a yiddish barn dance. As long as they are having fun.

Regardless to what type of music you listen to.... Rap, Metal, Country... these are mostly kids who have personalities interests and lives.... All players have interests off the field... Why are you singling out rap music? Get a clue man...

As part of their huge salary these guys should be forced to listen to real music with artistic value, not hip hop/rap gangsta garbage.

And what is real music? Singing about how your woman left your and how your dog died on the porch and now you are depressed....

Oh wait, I know.....singing about taking drugs all the time and how you are so depressed, that you have to dress in black and hop around and bump into strangers because you are so high you can't stand up strait.

No, well maybe it is growing your hair long and making a lot of noise with a guitar and sticking your tounge out and yelling into the microphone while your buddy is banging on random drums.

So please, I am curious what is real music

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music

Music is an art form consisting of sound and silence expressed through time. Elements of sound as used in music are pitch (including melody and harmony), rhythm (including tempo and meter), and sonic qualities of timbre, articulation, dynamics, and texture.

The creation, performance, significance and even the definition of music, varies according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions and performances to improvisational or aleatoric forms. For purposes of discussion and exploration of the topic, music is divided into genres and sub-genres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often unclear and/or controversial. Within "the arts", music can be classified as a performing art, a fine art, or an auditory art form.

Music may also involve generative forms in time through the construction of patterns and combinations of natural stimuli, principally sound. Music may be used for artistic or aesthetic, communicative, entertainment, ceremonial or religious purposes and by many composers purely as an academic instrument for study.

Its music with heart and soul. Jim Croce for example. Any classical music will also do. It should be the job of the intellegensia of the league to give some kind of culture to these wanna be gangstas.

Whatever stimulates oneself and is an expression of sound thru an emotion. To me that is music. Hey, we can go to dark africa where they don't sing at all, and make weird noises and use grasshoppers as their instruments for beat as they tear their heads off. Whatevers works.

Its not right for these guys to be wanting their cake and eating it as well. Sure, when it comes time for contract negotiations and such we know where they turn, but they aren't willing to let go of the thug and gangster culture. This kind of music shouldn't be allowed in NFL facilities period. The fact that is it suggests a lack of moral responsibility.

Well I agree that Spears should be more involved in finding ways to improve his game as for the eagerness he shows in his music.

It's all about what you prefer. And what feeds the soul is a combination of the lyrics and the music. I don't like all rap music, but some is good and the good stuff speaks to me pretty much the same way as any of the "standard" or traditional music.

Just FYI, not all rap music is gangsta. And if you listen to more than one genre of music, you'll see that many times the lyrics are the same, just delivered in a different manner.

It's not anyone's job to tell another person what music they should like. Having culture is not all about drinking tea and eating crumpets either. Sometimes it's just about having a well-rounded view of life. Enjoying rap doesn't prevent someone from enjoying Sebastian Bach. And considering we don't know what these guys do in their spare time, I'm not sure we have the right to judge.

A very interesting video indeed.

This team has one too many thugs it seems as Parcells has left.
The only thing Marcus is guilty of in that piece is that he sucks at freestyling. Thats a very slippery slope and down right ignorant, maybe even offensive to label him or anyone that enjoys rap as thug.

You obviously don't listen to rap enough to know that it's not all about the glorification of a thug and gangster culture.

On a side note, you also don't know much about the backgrounds of the players in this video. Based on what's been published, you'd know these guys are pretty far removed from the thug and gangster lifestyle. They enjoy the music, but they never lived it. And I'd say that that applies to the millions who actually listen to the music.

They're human... actually I see them as normal people. That's the whole point. Why should we outraged that a bunch of young black athletes listen to rap?

You are joking right. I mean, you can't be this ignorant I'm hoping. What in that you tube piece was about a thug or gangster culture? It seems as though you want your cake and eat to because you enjoy watching the best athletes in the world perform for your entertainment AND you want them to conform to your ideal of what's right and how they should entertain themselves.

Music is the language of the soul. If it doesn't speak to you it's nothing to get your panties all bunched up over.

Whatever happened to to each his own? You don't like rap? Who gives a rip, don't listen to it. But don't be such an arrogant clown that you try to impart your beliefs onto someone else. Just because you like a certain type of music does not make it the end all be all. Mind your own dam business.

I'm not talking down about the Dallas Cowboys here. Its not like the Jimmy Johnson/Barry Switzer teams where you really did have a bunch of thugs getting in trouble outside the field.

It just seems like there are lots of young kids watching this game, and for them to see grown men listening to this kind of music sets a bad example.
