Marinelli to take over as DC

Just when I think Dallas can't do something to surprise me, BAM!!! Jerry surprises me! Kiffin is given a celebratory title and Callahan gets demoted but keeps his title.

I love this move. Rod Marinelli is a great coach, we saw that with his work with the defensive line and his job in Chicago. He can now do what he wants to do with the defense without disrespecting his friend, Kiffin and he get's to keep Kiffin here (only reason he was here to begin with)

The players love Kiffin and he still knows more about football than anyone in the building which can be valuable in other roles, just maybe not huge ones like a coordinator. Possibly advising, mentoring, teachin...ect

By all reports, Marinelli was basically the co-DC (at least) last year anyway. I doubt this changes much.

Guess it's a good show for the fans, though. And that's what matters.

Play calling maybe?

You

You saw Assistant Head Coach/Defense coming???
I saw Marinelli being promoted.

1) They denied permission to allow Marinelli to leave.

2) At senior bowl, the only comments given on the staff were that everyone is under contract and were returning, but that roles could change.

That signaled the shuffling of the deck to me. The only thing I didn't see was Linehan coming on board.

Marinelli is now a bum who can't coach. Lol. This website is incredible.

He is a pretty good DL coach.

His overall coaching record is less than exemplary... he never coached any position until he got to Detroit where he managed a .208 record which is one of the worst in NFL history. He then went to Chicago and helped Lovie Smith coach the defense, although that defense had been quite good under Lovie for a number of years including basically getting them to a superbowl.

He isn't a bum by any stretch, but it's not like he has a huge track record of success either.
