We knew all along that if they canned Kiffin, Marinelli would be a goner. This was the only way to do the move in my opinion without stirring the hornets nest.

Personally, i like this move. I have been thinking all along that Marinelli will be the next Head Coach. The move "up" by Kiffen is just to appease him And make Jerry look like he has a heart.

Then why not just make Marinelli head coach if that is the plan? No need to pile up a bunch of guys who have shouldered plenty of responsibility as coaches during their respective careers. When did Jerry start to care about having a "heart"? He didn't have a "heart" when he axed Landry or Tex Schramm. As they said on the radio, it seems like we are handing out lollipops around Valley Ranch for participating.

I agree, I'm not sure Marinelli is cut out to be a head coach or even wants to. I think on defense we are OK (from a position "label" standpoint), but the offensive side of the ball is a crazy log jam of coaches at the moment.

I think Jerry is stuck with this staff because of the health problems and not knowing what the heck we do have. Throw in the cap problems and signing players on defense has him in a corner. Then add in the fact you are running out of time with Romo and it was just a no brainer to go this way. Starting over just puts you back three years. Hopefully we'll have enough health and decent players to see what we have. If they fail then you can start over. You're just going to have to go with the flow another year and hope for the best.

I'm happy with this decision. Would be much happier if Kiffin and JG were fired but this is a good first step IMO. Marinelli is a terrific DC.
