Williams is going to be released soon. He's verbally stated that he isn't a fit for Rex Ryan's defense and the Bills have said they will release him.He says he will play with a chip on his shoulder next year . He is 31 years old but he is still one of the best 4-3 DE in the game. He brings a nastiness to him,he is outstanding vs the run, and he will grab double digit sacks. I would offer him 3 years 30 million dollars. It's the perfect contract because Lawrence and Gregory will both be in their prime and we won't miss a beat after he retires.

Jerry is going to spend big this offseason . He's going to grab a top CB in free agency , a DT , and possibly a safety . But this is the guy I want. Would be an excellent mentor for Gregory and Dlaw . Veteran DE's have worked before. Reggie White to GB/Haley to Dallas/ Ware to Denver . They all ended up with championships ! He'll be our Reggie white /dware with that leadership and pass rush and help bring Romo a championship.

I would love to get him. I think he could definitely supplement what we've got.

RGregory is our DWare. Expect a big jump in production.

That would be nice . I hope so . I meant in the manner of a veteran changing teams and helping take a defense to a championship level . Reggie White , Haley , Ware etc.

It depends on how Gregory is doing. If he isn't ready to start, I love the idea of bringing in Williams particularly if he will sign a 3 year deal.

If Gregory is doing all the right things and gaining mass then I would prefer a more modest DE because he will be the backup.

Demarcus Ware was an elite pass rusher from day one. He simply took his talents to a new team. Mario Williams has never been elite at anything, while struggling with nagging injuries and serious questions about his motor. He is 31 and coming off a tumultuous season.

I put Williams in the same category as Weddle--past their prime looking for their last big paycheck. These guys are going to get paid for what they've done instead of what they can do.

No thanks.

Hear Philly is the favorite to sign him. A former position coach of his is there.

Hmm he has 96 sacks in 9 seasons he is absolutely elite. He has only missed 1 game in the past 4 seasons. You just don't like the player? He is a top five 4-3 de no questions asked. Ware was really struggling with the "nagging injuries" and was playing really lackadaisical out there his last two seasons here. Williams is a better player than ware at this point in the right scheme and it's not even close. Look at the Super Bowl teams . One had Jared Allen and one had ware . Veteran pass rushers can last until age 34,35,36.

On 485 pass rush snaps, Williams finished with just 34 combined quarterback sacks, hits and hurries.

I also don't really like the fact his teammates called him out for basically giving up.

He's a top tier DE, and if he was willing to bounce back it'd be a no brainer, depending on cost. But his unhappiness in the scheme happened to come at a time after he's made a fortune in this league. Does he feel like it's Mario's world now that he's been paid? If he's lost his hunger it could be a very bad investment.

It's a risk. I do like the idea of Rod bringing him back though. He kept Julius Peppers playing at an extremely high level when Peppers was around the same age, if not older, when Peppers made two All-Pro teams.

He's intriguing for sure. I'm sure we're interested.

He may have only missed one game, but the guy is constantly pulling himself out or grabbing at something. He also has one of the most inconsistent motors in the game. You're right, I don't like Mario Williams, for this team. He's an "over the hump" player and this team is definitely more than one DE away from a Super Bowl--look what adding Hardy did...

And seriously, you're citing Jared Allen as evidence for your argument? The guy barely played this season.

As much as I sound like I don't like Williams, you sound like so many others who just want to throw big names at holes on the team.

He's a quitter. He absolutely gave up when he didn't get to play how he wanted.

Both Barwin and Graham are young guys signed through 2018. Between them they're due almost 11 million this year. I think them bringing in a high priced 31 year old DE in free agency is extremely unlikely.

I like good football players. Mario Williams would be a sure upgrade, and could help bring this defense to a new level.Williams had 11,12,and 15 sacks before the bills changed schemes so all this "pulling out of games" didn't stop him from dominating. Who else do you want to plug into that hole Jack Crawford ?

And about Jared Allen I saw him starting in every game for the panthers in the playoffs . He looked like he was out there playing to me. One things for sure there's a history of success in this league with veteran DE's changing teams and making a difference. If you fail seeing that then that's on you.

I still think GHardy is the best fit because he can take early downs from RGregory and then slide to DT on passing downs.

And another year in the system and playing with same guys (chemistry matters) could benefit as well. Not to mention he should not miss any games in the beginning of the season so no rust like 2015.
