Twitter: Martin out for the year

Not news. The writing was on the wall.

Some players can retire at a specific time and some just fade away. Injuries to older players can change their retirement trajectory.

Martins joins the elite club of Romo, Ware, Witten, Smith, Frederick, and Dez who never realized the sweet taste of being a champion as a Cowboy. As much as we bicker amongst each other about how some of these players were elite or weren't elite, all of then deserved better. Short-changed by the piss-poor management of a senile old fool and his offspring.

THANKS #70, JUST ANOTHER WASTED HOF PLAYER BY THE JONES.

Someone said to trade Martin at the deadline to at least get something for him

Wonder who that smart poster could have been

Of course we have a moron for a GM
No one was going to give up anything for a washed 34 yr old guard. The mistake was bowing to his demands in the '23 offseason.

Dick Butkus never even played in a playoff game. A lot of great players were never part of a championship team. At least Ware got a championship in Denver. Can’t put all the blame on the management. Some of it falls on the players and coaches. It’s very difficult reaching a SB.

Yea, I’m not sure how fans have become so obsessed this era or generation with consuming themselves that the only measure of greatness is being on a championship team which most players aren’t.

I’m not sure why fans think his career has been wasted.

He’s had an amazing career which will be rewarded with a HOF induction.
I suppose the word "wasted" gets thrown around alot when talking about players, and doesn't really mean he "wasted" away his career. Perhaps it should be more like "it's ashame" with his amazing talent at RG, he wasn't able to experience the ultimate prize for playing in the NFL...a Super Bowl victory.

thirty years of futility says the vast majority of the blame is on ONE person

And that failure is on the GM and Owner for not doing their jobs unlike all these great players that did THEIRS.

It’s really shortsighted to associate failure from the team to players who had great personal careers.

Another awful contract by Jerry. He should have let him sit.

I’d argue the ultimate prize is induction into the HOF. Historically HOF is more immortalized. Winning a Sb is the ultimate team prize, not personal.

There's only 300+ HOF players representing over 100 years of the NFL. There’s thousands of Championship players who happened to be on a great team most will never remember their names .

Of course many HOFamers have had both. But there’s a long list of HOFamers who weren’t on championship teams.

Cowboy fans somewhere along the line lost sight in how we recognize greatness associated with team greatness which can be aligned but not always . I suppose because in our first 4 decades we only had HOF inductees from championship teams.
