It matters to him and likely the coaches who want as much depth and talent as possible.

Well, yeah, in that regard it matters. I just meant that if it's minor this early, it's a pretty good sign he's still dealing with whatever problem he's had historically and that whatever he might be trying this offseason probably isn't paying off.

Who knows...maybe it's just an early tweak and he won't look back. Hard to believe that, given the history, though.

If, and it's a humongous if, Matt Johnson would get healthy and contribute to the team, it would be so fun watching some eat crow.

The semi-good news is that we at least have have others at the safety spot this year, JJ Wilcox, Ahmad Dixon, Jakar Hamilton, Heath, and maybe some others to at least keep us fans preoccupied during camp. If Matt Johnson can't go, it ain't no big thing.

If he is repeatedly microscopically tearing (Grade I) a hamstring in the same place then that's recurrent. If he has a problem here and there on either leg then that's another problem. There are two bellies in each hamstring and tears can be on either side and/or on either leg. Some may be more proximal and others more distal.

Some will say what difference does it make since he can't stay on the field without injury. I would have to agree with that but it is not the same injury and the approach to the problem will be different. The prognosis will be different as well although in the end it may be the same outcome for him. I don't have any idea where he is injured or what leg nor the prognosis. If he's had Grade II-III tears previously then a Grade I is a concern but not the same problem as a more extensive tear. I don't know the data on how many tears of what grade and where does it take to make something essentially hopeless.

This ain't good is all I can say for now. I can't say he's finished though.

its a shame for the kid, but Dallas must move on. He has had more lives than a cat

I agree but given the fact Dallas nor any team has to make cuts just yet I would think they will take a wait and see on Johnson until that time.

My reference to "just about time" wasn't intended to mean immediate dismissal but rather at the normal time when cuts are made. To clarify, cutting him immediately would only place the team at a distinct disadvantage to replace him with equal or better talent.

For Johnson sake I hope he can get back out there and show he can do it. If this injury keeps him out leading up to the 1st cuts then cut him.
