With Jones and Stanbach, the Cowboys would have the best pair of passing WRs in the league.

EDIT: I'd rather have DeSean Jackson than Matt Jones.

Well, it's not like we haven't had success with white wideouts (Richards, Donley, Renfro, Jeffers, etc.)

Crayton played some QB too...

(Watch; the Skins will sign Jones for some size at WR. Actually, scratch that. They'll TRADE for him)

IMO we have 3 with Hurd, Austin and Stanback. To me Matt Jones would do for us what Crayton already does. Not a "WoW" player and if you're going out and getting a cruddy Troy Williamson that's kind of an indictment on Jones IMO, especially considering he was a #1 pick a couple years ago.

Yep, soon we will be signing Ronnie Brewer, Sidney Moncrief, Joe Kleine and Corliss Williamson to contracts. Nolan Richardson will also be joing the team as motivational speaker.

Seriously though, Jones does catch TDs. He would certainly be better then a guy you bring in fresh out of college but I would think we would have exausted a lot of options before anything like that happened.

I've always liked Matt Jones, for whatever reason he never clicked in Jax. I'd love to bring him in if we didn't already have those three other projects.

He's awesome in Madden fwiw

I wouldn't be all giddy if we got Matt. Not much of a "Wow" fall back plan to Roy, AB or Ocho. I'm almost ashamed to say that year over at the Cowboys-forum i had the Boys taking Matt with our second #1.

I'd take him for an 8th round pick.

He'd be an upgrade over Austin at least.

I was not against that idea either. Jones is interesting to me if he is a bargin. The guy is still 6-6 235 lbs and he still runs fast. Hard to say if he is just not any good or not good enough to break the lineup in Jax. They have a lot of WRs there. Two years ago, he caught 41 catches. He's a hard cover because he's so tall and gets on you quick. I don't know how well he's progressed since being in Jax but honestly, look how many WRs they have, all very highly ranked. How many have been good? Might be more about the team and the coaching then the players. I don't know.

Sign and trade for Coakley.

No, that was reported wrong Avery. It was actually a Sign and trade deal with Oliver Miller and the trade was going to be for Charles Oakley, not Dexter Coakley.

It's easy to mistake that one.

:D

Whenever I hear Matt Jones' name, I remember that draft day when Mort came on immediately after the pick and called him the "steal of the draft". What a ridiculous statement that was! I know many people here were lobbying for Matt Jones over Spears.

The idea intrigues me, for a late round draft choice.

I would give Jacksonville a 6th rounder for him for sure if that's what it took.

The guy has off the chart measurables and is still very young (as in just 24!)

It's possible that his development has been hampered by poor coaching in Jacksonville (their current receivers coach has 2 years experience) and changes at quarterback.

I feel confident that Cowboys' receivers coach Ray Sherman could make something out of him.

I'd take a late round risk.

I originally had Ware and Spears in the Cowboys-forum mock draft contest in 05, then changed it to Jones. I would have tied the guy that won(as he had Ware and Spears) but i got cute with the Jones pick, as did the Jags.
