I never really paid attention to M. Jones college career so I was just curious how good a QB was he. I know he is big and extremely fast, but how good was he at passing the ball and running an offense. I find it odd that he has been slotted as a WR since before the draft. I figure that must mean noboby considered him a good enough QB to play the position in the pros.

That's interesting. Because of guys like Vick in the league you can see that speed goes a long way.

I honestly don't know the answer to the obvious question here. What is it about his game that doesn't make him a good fit at QB?

Matt Jones just made an awsome one handed catch!

Spears better step up because I really wanted us to select Jones with the Spears pick. Don't get me wrong, I understand the Spears pick....but, he better perform to make me forget Jones!

Do you Zoners feel we did the right thing?

:laugh2: Of course the Cowboys made the right decision.

He is an inaccurate passer. He has only average arm strength or less. He makes bad decisions especially when under pressure. Any QB can grow and become good, but he is starting pretty low in all areas. I think Vick was rated a better QB than him coming out because Vick has a cannon of an arm. It Just seemed easier to switch him to receiver where he could contribute something now even if it is only 1 or 2 catches a game. There is a possibility that one could be a big play. As a QB it could be years before he hit the field.

I see. Thank you, Joseephuss.

I only saw one Arkansas game ... but I do have some red neck relatives in that state that are huge razorback fans.

I agree with you that Henson missed a great opportunity to develop his QB skills by leaving Michigan and pursuing baseball. That extra year of college football and then entering the NFL would have helped maintain some continuity in his growth as a QB. That doesn't mean that he won't succeed, but it is hard to replace that kind of learning experience.

Now he has to hope to get something close to that kind of opportunity in prre-season games, practice and maybe NFL Europe. And I do think NFL Europe would be a good way of getting re-acclimated. I know some have questioned how playing against guys not good enough to make NFL teams will be beneficial, but that is the same as college. Not every team he faced in college was full of 1st round picks. Indiana was in the Big 10 and Michigan like any big name school will schedule a patsy or two each year.

He may still succeed and I know I am hoping he does(Romo, too), but it became more difficult to do because of his limited college experience and his time away from the game. It takes time to develop.
If he doesn't beat out Romo for #2 at some point this year, I think he should positively go to Europe and get some playing time...but there's no guarantee he would start there either.

Amen, brother...my only disagreement with you would be to say Vick is already a great QB.

I think most guys who attack McNabb and Manning for having not won a SB and guys like Vick for not having the awsome passing stats are just looking for any excuse to put them down.

Vick isn't Manning, but he's one of the greatest QB's in the game, imo...Bart Starr wasn't a great QB by passing standards either, but he was a winner.
Vick wins football games, and often does so singlehandedly. With Vick, the Falcons win their division, win 11-12 games, and are capable of winning it all. Without Vick, they don't finish above .500 imo...I feel the same way about Manning and McNabb.

Vick is improving as a passer, but I'd trade any player on this team for him right now....yes, that includes Roy Williams...I can almost guarantee you that any GM in the NFL, including JJ and Parcells, would too. With Vick, you can win any game, score at any time from anywhere...he's that good.

Isn't that more important than who's the best pocket passer in the NFL?
I totally agree with you on Manning, McNabb and Vick. I think the reason most of the guys on this forum run them down, is because they don't play for their favorite team.

All of the above are better than any QB we've had in a long time ...

The Cowboys havn't had a qb in any of those guys league since Aikman was in his prime.

And quiet as it's kept, I would take McNabb and Manning over Aikman in his prime. Unless of course Emmitt is can come along with Troy.
