Matt Jones--WR

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't think it was that great of a catch. I missed it live, so I went and downloaded the clip, expecting some phenomenal grab. But all he did was reach out with one hand, pull in the ball and catch it with both hands, with nobody really guarding him. Keyshawn did that on several of his catches during warmups Monday, and those were nothing special, either.

Most resourceful poster. Ever.

Oh and to answer the question. I have no regrets not taking jones. He was very much a luxury pick, something we couldn't afford. Especially at 20. Jax is taking a HUGE gamble taking him that high. Very high risk/high reward. We have flunked on enough of those for me to cringe at the thought

It was a nice catch, but not one of those Joe Jureviscious (sp?) grabs from a couple of years back. If anything, it was poorly played by the DB.

Did you also see on the next play he completely whiffed on his block, and it was a 3 yard loss?

-It actually looked like he didnt even care about the block.

I actually would of liked a combiantion of Ware and JAmal Brown, how ever they would get that done, seems like we dont even need Spears to make the 3-4 work.

But I still like Spears and hes going to be solid part pf the D, and I think hes going to be a great grunt work typpe of guy, and ppl wont realize what he does for us.

Matt Jones was a reach and a high risk pick.
Spears was the opposite, actually falling lower than he should have and far less of a risk.

If anything, I still think Mark Clayton becomes a player in this game and haunts me a little but Matt Jones... not gonna happen.

He'll never become a "Player" with Kyle Boller throwing him the ball.

Boller really stinks and is the main thing holding that team back from being very in the superbowl. Clayton has a bright future, but I agree, Boller may hold him back quite a bit. If Boller doesn't progress this year, I think he will be looking for a new team or riding the pine. As far as Jones is concerned, I agree, too much of a boom/bust type pick for us to ever even consider drafting him.

Once Boller has a bad game(probably the 1st game) Anthony Wright will step in and start throwing to Clayton.

If anyone regrets not taking Matt Jones(I don't. He was a 4th rounder in my book), then you can pull for Dallas to take Vince Young next year. He will be looking to make the conversion to wide receiver.

Word out of Ravens camp is that this is going to be the year Bollers steps to the plate and hits the ball........

I think Pat Crayton will be a better reciever in the NFL than Mr. Jones.

7th rounder baby !

No wonder we are stockpiling those picks for next year...lol

Why would you think that? Jones has done pretty well so far. Regardless of what anybody says...I thought that was a fantastic one handed catch over the middle of the field by a guy who was an SEC QB 8 months ago.

Crayton was a QB too...Did you see the catch's he made on Monday ? Ripped one ball from the CB hands...Another were he fought through a hold by another DB to get to the ball.

I missed the catch your talking about, but I assumed it was good....Just saying I think Crayton is more developed at this point.

Roger that baj1dallas!

I don't regret taking Spears over Jones, even though I don't think Spears is going to be star material...I think he'll be a good pro who'll have a good career just like Greg Ellis...what Ellis was in the 4-3, Spears will be in the 3-4, with fewer sacks, imo.

HOwever, despite being attacked for this opinion with the ridiculous "who'd play CB for us" like we couldn't have signed a free agent as we did with Henry or draft a CB in the 2nd round instead of guys like Rogers, I will always regret taking Newman over Leftwich.

I like Newman...I think he'll be a great CB for us for a long time...I'd still rather have Leftwich, and I don't think I'll ever change my mind on that one.

I guess Bill and Jerry never viewed it as a Newman vs. Leftwich. I think it was more of Quincy and Hutch are our young QBs and we think one will work out so we don't need to draft one. And by work out, I mean fit Parcells role of the QB doesn't need to be a star for the team to be effective.

I like Leftwich and would have been very happy with him under center for the Cowboys. He is going to be a very good one. I also like Newman and am glad he is on the team. I didn't have preference at the time of that draft. Would have been happy with either.

Through 2 preseason games he hasn't come close, but time will tell. I will watch the 1st half tonight and see what the Ravens look like.

I like Jones coming out. I still like him. I think he will turn out to be a nice WR. I think there is risk there but then again, there's risk with Spears also.

I would have liked to have taken a good WR. Having said all this, I would have taken a QB. JMO

This one is no regret for me at all; I like the Newman pick. Lefty has a great arm and he is guttsy but he still hasn't shown me that he has the head for the game. He will be good and will have his moments but I don't think he will ever be great...think Donavan McNabb.

This was a weak draft for QBs and Henson had only one year at draft time. I didn't see any QB available at #20 that was a surefire upgrade over the young guys we have.

As I said before i wanted a WR (Clayton or White) but Jones was not the one. I think Spears will be a solid performer for years to come and will be a quiet cornerstone of our defense. He will be a Jethro Pugh type of guy; maybe overshadowed by more flashy players (Ware) but he will hold his spot and do his job game in and game out year in and year out. You have to have those guys on your team to win consistently.
