I picked Miami in 5 before the series. A sweep looks more likely than this one going 6.

Kerp whining about the refs, Mavs fans. Entertaining the hell outta me. Jason Terry's dunk attempt where he got bailed out by a phantom foul on LeBron... funny that there's no mention of that play. Bad calls go both ways.

As for the FT discrepancy in the playoffs which favor Miami, do you clowns even WATCH the games? LeBron and Wade are the best in the business at slashing to the rim, and the Miami D is arguably the very best in the NBA. Naaahhh, that can't have anything to do with it.

Terry is going to have step up or this will be a short series. Nowhere to be found in the 2nd half.

And Dirk's gotta score at least 35. Mediocre game from him last night.

"@Rachel_Nichols Dirk Nowitzki just said he tore a tendon in his middle finger on his left hand. Will wear a splint the rest of the series. X-Rays negative."

There aren't that many Mavs fans in here blaming the refs for the loss. So go blow it out your ***.

I saw 5 seconds of the game. What I saw was a charge by Wade that was called a blocking foul on the Mavs.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

As for why the Mavs lost, I have no idea as I only saw 5 seconds of the game.

Three things I saw last night:

1) I thought the Mav's spacing was extremely poor last night. Made it way to easy for the heat to rotate defensively. Mav's need to devise an offensive strategy that makes it much more difficult for the Heat to rotate defensively. Mav's have to be able to rotate the ball more crisply and with purpose. Know what you want to accomplish with your ball rotation and take advantage of the skip pass over the top to create problems defensively. Gotta get that fixed.

2) Mav's shot the ball poorly last night. There were a lot of open shots that the Mav's simply missed. They hit those shots and this is a very different game IMO. Mav's must get better shooting from Terry and Stevenson and really, Stevenson just needs to get more involved I think. Take more shots. Stojakovic might be a guy who can play a role here.

3) Mav's got owned on the boards. I mean, they got out rebounded by 10 but the worse part of this picture is that they gave up 16 offensive rebounds. This is terrible. How many points of ORs did the Mav's give up last night? Simply no excuse for this. Rebounding is about position and effort. Even guys who have a limited amount of athletic ability can rebound their own board if they do these two things. Mav's just didn't want it bad enough.

Mav's were within 2 points with 6 minutes to play on the road. If I look at these three things and say that the Mav's play a better game in any one of these three areas and I think they have a great chance to win that game. Mav's are going to look back at this game and kick themselves in the their collective butts. Correct number 1 and that goes along way to solving issue number 2 but you still gotta knock down open shots. If you can't do that, you don't deserve to be in the championship. Get your boards straight. Show up to play Chandler. 4 boards in 34 minutes is unacceptable. Zero offensive rebounds, really? Just board, simple as that.

Good post ABQ

Yeah I love how everyone is in complete panic mode right now but the Mavs couldn't have played any worse last night.

Chalk it up to the Heats great defense though lol.

To be fair, there is reason for concern. In the history of the NBA Finals, only eight times has a team lost game one and gone on to win the series. The winner of game one is 53-8 all-time. I find that rather irrelevant when the road team loses game 1 though, so take that for what it's worth.

As for the heat's defense, it really wasnt the reason Dallas lost. Dallas had more open jumpers last night than they ever had against OKC and simply missed them.

Pretty much why im not worried.

Plus I know we have a superior bench.

But if they want to not show up and choke this series away even though we have a better team than fine let them.

If they just play Mavs basketball it should be over in 6.

This is true. To me, the key to this series is Chandler and effort. He looked intimidated last night and if he can't come stronger then that, then this series is going to be over because you can't allow Miami to own the boards on missed shots. It was not as bad a loss as many are trying to make it out to be IMO but those three things gotta get fixed. Of those three things, the biggest concern I would have if I were a Mav's fan is the play of Chandler, even more so then the injury to Derk's off hand but the Mav's are going to kick themselves for dropping this first game. It was very winnable for them and it will come into play somewhere along the line.

There is no excuse for his rebounding but that early foul and the way the refs were calling the game when Lewade went to the hole played a factor in that.

Haywood played some decent ball last night though.

With Dallas having so many seven footers and Jason Kidd, they should never get out rebounded. Rebounding is both a skill and requires effort. We know they have some skilled rebounders, but sometimes the effort just isn't there.

Dirk used to average over 10 rebounds a game, he hasn't been rebounding like that lately. Lately he has been averaging around 8.
