How do Mavs fans feel about this trade? I think if they didn’t want to move forward with Luca they could have gotten more for him. Davis is injured more than Luca is and he’s 31. The Mavs just gifted wrap the Lakers to make a run over the next 8 years if they build around Luca the right way. You never give up a player like Luca IMO especially when they are 25 and entering their prime.

How do you not get at least 3 firsts in that trade? Anthony Davis is a great all around player, but he has been injury prone his whole career. He has played more than 70 games 3 times in 13 years. He is 31 with a history or both back and lower body injuries.
The Mavs screwed themselves in this trade. They could have received way more for a 25 year old generational player.

I mean truthfully he is Harden but he’s had better teams around him. Harden has played with stars that weren’t great fits. Davis is older than I thought. I guess he was in his 20s before he got to La I was thinking he was late 20s. No question one of the best big men in the league. If healthy.

I honestly think Jerry is upset lol. I think bad or good he wants to dominate headlines.
He needs to improve other areas of his game if he doesnt want to be Harden+. Unless he has a dominant team around him, or the NBA is weak on top teams like the last few years, being a tourist in the finals may be his high water mark.

The NBA isnt where it was post Warriors dynasty where teams like the Bucks and Nuggets can win it all. The Celtics have few if any weakness and the Knicks and Thunder are right there as challengers. The NBA is heading back to a place where you are going to have to be a legitimate championship caliber team to win it all. Im many era's, those Bucks and Nuggets championship teams would be tourist in a conference finals

In the short term, I think it’s a wash for Dallas. Maybe the best defense in the league now, and still a good offense but maybe too much pressure on Kyrie now. For the Lakers, this hurts them this season. They have no bigs and no defense. But can’t blame LA. You can’t pass on an opportunity like this. It is interesting because they’re wasting a year for LeBron who is running out of time.
I think they move LeBron now to maybe GS? I feel like he gets moved now.

Don’t think this will work out for Lakers. LeBron and Luka are both ball dominant and the defense got worse. Maybe they’ll trade Lebron soon. Not sure if AD helps the Mavs either.

My issue with Luka is how ball dominant he was. I don’t think that was an effective way to win. One guy dominating while everyone watches…I’m not a fan of.

It won’t work but Mavs showed you can work with two ball dominant players. The problem is they don’t have a big man now. Lebron can play with anyone. AD helps Mavs because AD can also play with anyone. It’s about health.

To not even shop around for offers is crazy dumb. OKC has a war chest of picks and intriguing players. Houston has assets.

Can’t help if there are some under the table dealings to entice this.

Jerry being the second dumbest owner in sports is a coup for him. Lol.

Not a Mavs fan, but this is unbelievable that they would trade Luka away and then trade him away for basically what amounts to a bag of chips and half eaten In & Out burger. This looks like one of those Click Bait Trade Proposal articles that seems ridiculous and can't believe someone wrote the article with a straight face.

They traded away a Top 5 player, a superstar, just entering his prime that dragged the team to the Finals last season and should have come away with a hoard of assets.

I mean this wasn't a owner move. This to me is like trading Cee Dee Lamb for Tyreke Hill and a first rounder.....Mavs have made some great trades and draft picks since Nico has been here that has resulted in them being in the championship. Jerry still has that tile lol.

Not a Mavs fan but I've always liked Luka. Seems they could have gotten a better return than the Unibrow....IMO. Why not wait and dangle Luka to whomever gets the 1st pick this year? They could have had a chance at Flagg. If it didn't work, they could have circled back to the Unibrow. This has Jerry's fingerprints all over it. Lol

Its very peculiar. Non super stars like Dejounte Murray are going for four FRP's. A 31 year old injury prone Davis and a 2029 pick arent nearly worth what it would cost to land a 25 year old MVP contender

Ok AD is not a bag of chips. AD is a top 10 player. They traded Luka a top 5 player for a top 10 player and a first round pick. I agree its unbelievable because Luka is a big name but as far as talent wise AD is a better overall player. The things he does on defense Luka will never be able to do. And while the things on offense Luka will never be able to do he has a potent offensive game. AD is a stud. Its all about how healthy will he be.

Because its not that simple. You have to make contracts match. And the teams that have the salary to trade to get Luka are teams like the Suns with Bradley Beal or Heat with Jimmy Butler...AD was the best player they can get. Now I do wonder why they couldn't get more draft picks from the Lakers.

Problem with that is Luka. Luka would never agree to that. In the NBA its the players that have control. Luka is unrestricted after 2026 and would just leave. He would even still get a supermax because whatever team he is leaving would sign and trade just to get something back

Whoever has the #1 overall probably has the space to add him. Its more that Luka would be a rental for one year just to win 40 games
