Pickens costs money, Crosby costs money and picks.

Good thought. Nobody on the roster is good enough to keep for next season. Let’s try getting rid of everybody and getting 90+ new players and start all over again.

The cap hit for cutting Bland is $30 million. Even as a June 1 designee, we don't really gain any cap relief for cutting him.

Diggs and Steele would bring cap relief, but we can create plenty of space simply by restructuring deals. We don't have to cut anyone. If we cut Diggs and Steele, it's because we don't want them at their price.

I’d move on from Diggs and Steele but that means we need a OT and CB. But I think there’s a vet OT we could get for less that’s just as good

I'd hold on to Steele for now and make someone beat him out for starting right tackle before either trying to trade him or cut him. His base does not guarantee, so even if we get rid of him in camp, we save his $13 million base.

I was in favor of keeping Diggs if he played well when he returned from injury, so we wouldn't need another corner, but I think it was clear that they were moving on from him anyway. I think they'll believe they have the starters for next year in Bland (coming off foot surgery) and Revel (in his first full year after his injury). Of course, we need a nickel corner no matter what. As bad as the secondary has been, it wouldn't surprise me if we cut Diggs and end up taking a corner in the first round despite our other needs.

I don’t know any athlete to have knee surgery and it be fine. Not saying it will stop me from signing or trading for him but it would certainly lower his trade value for me anyway. I’m not trading two firsts.
